******* PES 2016 *******

Had a go on the PS4 demo last night and the first thing that struck me was the cartoonish graphics!!

Gameplay-wise I've always preferred PES to FIFA but I just can't seem to get past the visuals!

I much prefer the passing/AI runs in this compared to fifa which decides you actually wanted a terrible pass to the opposition rather than a simple 10 yarder to a nearby team mate.

But I have to agree with some that it's like running through mud. The arms are going and all that but people like robben apparently can't move very quick with the ball. If they sort it though I'd say it's pretty decent.

Try changing the game speed - think you've got 2 faster settings
What are the player collisions like? Do players fall over a lot when getting tackled?
Seem to stumble but attempt to retain possession, only rarely fall but I don't tend to pace abuse - biggest issue is that the way it decides how contested balls are won is wierd/buggy.

Had to make changes to the defaults to make the game more enjoyable - not sure how that would work competively online.

Demo scratches the football itch - look forward to comparing it to the FIFA demo but seen opinions its much like FIFA 15 :(

Been a hardcore pes player for years now and i thought 15 was the best for a very long time. 16 polishes it up even further and looks even more promising. Now if they can only fix the occasional laggy games online then this could be the best pes yet.

I dont think the gfx are cartoony at all but certainly dif to fifa.

I think if both games had the full fifa licence then pes would undoubtedly be king. Really dont understand those that refuse to play it due to lack of licences

How the hell did you do that ? I'm useless with the special moves.

Not my video and have not got a clue some of these tricks these guys do are amazing.

Edit: this will help you

"This is rather simple, simply hold R3 for a while. and dribble wherever you wanna go. Most effective when a receiver of a pass gets the ball. to flick it up. Weedens made a video about it today by the way."

Got the demo yesterday and I have to say, like last year, the impressions are good.

Passing and player movement is much more fluid this time, and not sluggish or blocky like in PES 15. I can definitely see more improvement in this field since last year compared to FIFA.

However, as much as I would love to get PES 16, which may be likely since it comes out first, I will probably still end up getting FIFA 16 as well simply because most of my mates play it and that is also a huge factor why I also ended up getting FIFA 15 after PES 15.

I agree about the graphics. They look great and vibrant, but also quite cartoony in comparison to FIFA which looks more realistic.

So I think I might just end up getting PES on the XB1 first, and then FIFA on the PS4! PES for the gameplay (plus scoring is more satisfying), and FIFA for the multiplayer.

Played 15+ games on this and genuinely not had one single free kick. It's bizarre.

Also seeing a LOT of clipping and the ball completely going through player's feet. It's the kinda thing you say to yourself 'it's because it's the demo, the final game will be different..' but I have my doubts..

Downloaded the demo and been playing it and initial impressions are good, it's enjoyable and although I'm still getting to grips with it, I'm finding it's better than previous iterations. Only problem I'm finding is the over the top balls, they seem a tad OP.

Personally the default speed is still a bit too fast and the collision detection is still poor even though its meant to be a new system.

The gameplay still looks more realistic than Fifa 16 though and it still plays a better game of footy no doubt.

I wouldnt pay £30 on release for it based on the demo.Be interesting to see how good a port the PC version is, considering you will probably get a key for £15 on release.

Ive played this a fair bit and while its pretty good theres still some glaring issues:

Once you make a successful tackle it seems pre configured who will get the ball in certain situations even if they play out the same - sometimes the challenger will somehow run past you to take the ball while you chug. Indeed theres a large amount of clipping that makes who wins the tackle guesswork at times...

Inability to cancel inputs is frustrating at times and seems only legit way to do it is to attempt a fake - loads of times the balls been cleared from an attack where Ive already pressed shoot thinking the pass will complete to only have it cleared and the first player that gets it does a useless long shot. Also the direction you aim seems to be locked to when you press a pass/shoot button which if animations delay it can produce a poor pass/sot. In FIFA at least you can manually cancel inputs as well as it having some leeway in the direction you pass/shoot until the actual animation happens. I dont think its a poor alternative, just a bit too regimented.

Advanced shooting mechanic needs a revamp I hate the way you have to aim away from goal to attempt a low shot while difference in power seems to achieve little difference - indeed its all a bit basic as you never seem to get a glaring miss even if you attempt some ridiculous shot from anywhere on the pitch. Its hard to gauge shot power if everything that doesnt go in is either a near miss, hits the crossbar ala FIFA or floats nicely for the GK to catch.

Looking at its progression from PES 15 I definitely feels like its been FIFAed, its much more easier to make a decent move using counters and quick passes than to build any passing move. I do think theyve moved in a different direction since 15 and unsure if I like it - PES 15 was distinctly its own game and enjoyable for what it was - PES 16 seems to be some FIFA/PES hybrid which sounds like a good thing on paper but unsure what it really is...

Not played the demo yet but on a video a watched they said the pes demo was an old build. Still no news on 2 vs 2 mode : (
