Assuming that last HJT listing proves successful, I have one further question relating to what I've done today.

After downloading and installing AVG and ewido, I now appear to have them running permanently. If this gives me added protection, then I'll be pleased. But is there going to be any problem caused by these two running, along with my usual virus scan and firewall provided by McAfee? I realise that ewido is only on a 14 day trial, so presumably that will stop within two weeks.

As for the AVG and Ewido, you can leave Ewido on your system, but you may as well remove either AVG or your previous ANti-Virus (McCafee).

PErsonally I would stick with AVG.

THe 14 day free trial of Ewido does run out, but all that means is you have to update it manually every few days or so, so it is worth keeping :) IT wont conflict with anything else.

Thanks for all the help. Everything seems to be going just fine now. And thanks for the advice on which to keep. I'm quite impressed with AVG and with Ewido. I'm glad to hear that I can keep Ewido after the 14 day trial period; I'd expected it to be deactivated.
