I'd have gone back to pay.

Mr.T said:Hi,
As title says I believe I did this a couple of days ago. To cut a long story short, I got petrol, went in ( to pay), and came out only paying for a drink and some chocolate. I went wrong because I assumed the guy put the petrol on the bill since he was staring at me when I was filling up, also due to the fact I was only person at station ( also I should have checked amount..). However, when I checked my statement I only had a bill for a pound, this raised alarms since 40 pounds of petrol was acquired.
Now what I am wondering is how come the police have not been round, since this occurred on the 16th. Makes me think the number plate recognition system is not working.
Anyway, I'm going to go to BP tomorrow morning and sort it out. Am I right in thinking they will just have it on computer and I can just pay it now?

People get murdered, tortured, killed, contract terrible, horrific diseases all day every day.
I would go as far to say its relatively small minded to worry about £40 at a petrol pump out of 1000's of customers, on one day of the year, at one station in 1000's, in one country out of hundreds.
Its pretty insignificant either way.
If people worried more about the really important things, then maybe this country wouldn't be such a disgrace, and we would all be a lot nicer to people on a personal level. I couldnt give the slightest about a multinational, multibillion ££ corporation responsible for the destruction of the planet.
And yes, I know im partly to blame, but if they sold Biofuel that went as well as optimax and cost the same Id stick it in no problems.
We need to take a leaf out of brazils books, and stop lazily relying on these massive oil corps taking us all for mugs.
The weathers only got to get worse and the oil cartels put the price of oil up, so worrying about £40 seems a waste of time.
I cannot belive you called them back!
You could have donated that £40 to charity if you really wanted to do some good, or settle your "consience".

Id forget all about it, and think of the small amount you have made back from all the times prior that you/we have been hideously ripped off ragged.
Its £40 from the 95 Billon or so that Shell must be making globally, somehow I think that you are going to be able to sleep at night.

"Dear Mr. Plod,
Thank you for your letter. I fancied a bit of free fuel that day and intentionally left without paying for the fuel. Please come and arrest me as soon as you are ready.

He got a letter from Plod, but he hasn't paid yet?
Bloody hell, £40 for a record - madness.
Just think about applying for your dream job and ticking the previous convictions box over £40.

1. unlikely they have security to record your STOLEN FUEL if they havent made contact (the police that is)
2. it is down to the attendant to record yout registration if no security
3.once you have driven off and the attendant notices (he will soon after because otherwise he cant clear the system) he will have to write it up as a drive off and write a report to the manager recalling all he can about the event.
james.miller said:Or, you can phone them and sort it then and there. Remember driving without paying is an offence. Dont be an idiot.
I used to work for Texaco so I know exactly where you're coming fromGhost in the Shell said:sorry was feeling a little heated this morning, but i have to say having had drive offs when i worked in a garage its not nice to have to deal with..
