Pets in your house, what are the rules?

I have my mates girlfriends weimaraner visiting occasionally for the odd night, it sleeps in their room which is fine with me...it isn't allowed on the furniture but I know for a fact it is allowed when I'm not there which is slightly agrivating...and it gets left in the living room to scratch the wooden floor to death when everyone is out....*rant over*

2 Dogs, pretty much free run of the house. Stay in the Kitchen and dining room whilst out. Try to keep them downstairs during the day, sleep in the bedroom at night on the floor on their own bed. Not allowed up in furniture unless invited up (sometimes uninvited) on lap.

Our house has one rule about the dog, or rather is ruled by the dog.
Fortunately he's a toy poodle so we don't have to worry about hair and he's not exactly big.
Unfortunately it means I have to have the same conversation with him every night when I ask him to move off the bed (he's funny he'll settle on the bed if no one is in it, but will wait for permission to jump up if i'm in bed).

We have 3 cats and they sleep where they want. We just change the bedclothes every week and have an animal hair hoover.

If I had a dog though I'd definitely not allow it to sleep on the bed, every dog owner I know has a smelly house and car even though they don't realise.

Our cat has free run in the house. She doesn't go on tables or work surfaces though.

She sleeps on the pillow in the spare room, so if we ever had guests coming we'd have to change the bedding because it's always covered in hair!

My future mother-in-law's shitsu stays from time to time. I have given up trying to control where it goes, but I won't sleep in the same room as it. Because it has never got used to being on it's own, it whines incessantly when it can't see people. Took me hours to get to sleep one time :)

got 1 cat

they can sleep anywhere but the washing basket... when it has clean stuff in...

tends to sleep with me/sofa or its basket in the kitchen

goes out in the mornings after being fed... comes in later on in the day when it stands by the door

bit crappy leaving a dog outside at night in this weather btw...

I suppose it depends on what sort of outside enclosure the dog has, but it’s not good keeping a dog in the warmth during the day and then putting it out in the outdoors overnight. Their coats depend on the seasonal weather (which is messed up in the UK to begin with) but if the dog is inside during the day it gets accustomed to the warmth and will shed to a summer coat and then if its stuck outside the poor thing will freeze.

Indoor pet or outside guard, not fair to mess it around.

My two cats go anywhere they like except work surfaces. They're often found in random places about the house, in the most contorted postitions imaginable. Mad things.

I would never allow any pets on the bed, manky, or the furniture. They walk around outside and step in all sorts and they get on the bed you sleep in/chair you sit in. Makes me shudder really.

I don't have any pets now but have had cats in the past as well as rabbits and a dog when very young.

Can't have animal hair anywhere now as I still have asthama and so does my daughter, she has it worse than me and I'm also allergic.

My two cats go anywhere they like except work surfaces.

oh yeah, thats another place I dont let her

on the sofa though... its really no problem all I do is sit there, plus my cat doesnt leave hairs behind or claw it, I suppose if it did i'd get it off there though

My dog goes everywhere, anyone's bed, al though usually gets shouted at when it's the parents bed. Also goes on the couch etc. He doesn't malt at all really, so it's no big deal, and we need a new sofa soon anyway lol.

imo the dog shouldnt be allowe, and if it was acceptable and u didnt want it then it should not be allowed
or choose 1 chair and say if it sits on there it can go, that way you have a clean chair for yourself and everyone who doesnt care can suffer
