PGA Tour 2K21

I like having unique golfers, everyone might be set up differently. Power, accuracy, putting, short game, recovery etc. Plus, it adds to the depth of the game and a reason to play the single player. I also enjoy earning equipments upgrades, new clothing items etc. I just think golf games have become all to lazy. In this day and age surely someone could try and make an incredible golf game with layers of depth instead of the same old churned out simple structure with the next number tagged on for a roster upgrade. No one even tries to be imaginative in the genre anymore.

I guess it could be cool to have that for single player career mode only. Not for online societies / multiplayer though.

Just over a week 'til release. Can't wait for this. Lots of preview videos went out last week and it seems that they've definitely improved on what was already great game in TGC2019.

Perhaps I misheard in the video but they're charging nigh on £40 for this and it's going to be full of micro-transactions?

For me, Tiger Woods 2008 still has the best control feel to it. It's still using the pull back mouse and push forward method but it feels like I can judge it. I tried The Golf Club 2019 and it just doesn't feel right. Not as quick nor as fluid. I understand that for some golfers the intricacies and nuances make it feel more realistic to them, but for me it was offputting.

Microtransactions for cosmetic items only. No pay-to-win here. I'm sure I read you can earn the items in the game without buying them too if you earn enough points.

The swing has been overhauled and there are many more toggle-able aids to help the noobs pick it up easier.

The golf club series to me really looks and plays good but I’m a 3 click power bar old fashion tiger woods player that would like an option to pick what power swing you prefer as I find the pull back and forward timing on a controller really hard to keep a straight motion swing

Do you use the 'pincer' technique (forefinger at the top of the mushroom, thumb at the bottom) or are you just trying to use your thumb alone to move the mushroom back and forward?

The former is way easier.

Graphically it looks like something from 5 years ago.

All courses appear to be the exact same shades of green, Rough/first cut identical everywhere and the same unnatural lighting in each. Could add all the holes together and it would seem like 1 big course. The crowds are identical and just stand aimlessly as the ball comes straight at their face.

The tempo part looks interesting, with people knowing they hit a bad shot right after release like in real life. but it seems 2k have really just fifa'd this one. so the control is an improvement but it seems lacking in actual game depth.

Agreed the graphics are still looking a bit dated, I think the course designer holds it back in this regards. Courses will look very different though - the official PGA ones are much the same shade of green but all the custom ones will be able to look massively different. There are definitely different shade options for fairway and rough colours.

The crowds do still suck. Was hoping they'd have improved on this.

Excellent first impressions this morning, it gets a huge thumbs up from me. Tempo is incredibly difficult to get consistent but the ramp up in difficulty was needed. Visually much improved over TGC 19, much more immersive on the course, AI seems more in tunevwith scoring. Ball roll and putting feels terrific also. Just a nice amount of polish been put on the game. Can't wait to jump back on later.

I second this. Only 2 rounds in but loving it. Basically a more refined version of The Golf Club 2019, but with way more control over the difficulty and aids that will make it much more accessible to new players. You can toggle on and off loads of different assists and the new variety in clubs attributes will make things interesting.

Been awhile since I played a golf game, what's your opinions folks. I've watched a few YT videos and fancy this, can you use the mouse or analogue stick for swing/fade/draw... etc.

Yeah during your shot setup you hold LB and set how much draw/fade/backspin/topspin you want with the mushroom on gamepad. You can use mouse but not sure how it works with that.

Very tempted with this, haven't played a good golf game since the Sega :p.

Little put off by the £45 asking price - what are the thoughts of those that own it?

I'm easily going to put 200 hours into this, making it a bargain. Infinite replayability thanks to the course designer.

Yeah pro is really hard, and I put hundreds of hours into the TGC games.

Currently on pro-am which is about the right level for now.

Anyone looking for a nice course to play should try out Pearl Mountain:
