Now that is cool^

If you have a local framing shop then I'd get that framed and put up on a wall. I say local as I am a strong supporter of local businesses where possible

Tbh I've yet to get anything 'framed' (technically)

I've had one thing printed on a hardback plastic/metal kinda thing that came with a Perspex front and that looked nice.

More recently I've tested out some prints on different types of photo paper and then also tested some large poster sized prints.

The problem always comes to mounting them! Damn frames always seem expensive lol :(

Decided to take a wander towards the Beach and thought I'd check out what was at the Lagoon. I got there and I saw a gaggle of people with large lenses camped out by the side of the Lagoon so I figured there was something interesting going on so I didn't wander off down the beach.

There were some other Ducks of some kind of rather and some Little Grebes which were shy as usual but the Mergansers (which seem to have appeared recently) were the most entertaining ones :)

The first four shots are with an extra 1.4x extender fitted to my 200-400mm with the builtin extender also engaged (784mm)

There seemed to be two pairs around and I got a few shots of one pair fishing. The female was just diving here and the male had already caught something

The breezy weather which was making waves made for a dramatic shot! lol

They obviously got a bit more used to be as they got a bit closer even though he was keeping an eye on me!

Then the other pair got a bit closer and the males decided to do some male bonding/bullying whilst the females watched

Depends on your framing shop, my local only uses glass mount frames, dry mounts the photo to proper backing so it doesn't droop or bubble/warp and then mounts the lot inside the wooden frame and seals it all up. A 60" one I had done a while back cost less than £70!

Hmmm

Might have a look around to see what I find around here

Woke up too early today so when I noticed it was clear skies I decided to head down to the beach for a sunrise. It was quite fresh at -4 when I left the house but it warmed up a bit once the sun was up.

I decided to move a little down the beach towards the Lagoon to check if the Mergansers were there again and they were. I decided to focus on just using my 200-400 with an extra 1.4TC on top of the builtin one to test the F8 focusing on the 7d2. Obviously it's not as sharp as normal but it's not bad considering there's two converters being used.

Getting things framed is tough with only the middle point but it performed pretty well I think. There's some room left for improvement when I finally bother to get Focal to test for some manual adjustment but it's pretty good already I think.

First a couple of portrait shots with slower exposures since the light was nice. The sunlight is on the ducks and the warm light on the water is light reflecting from nearby houses on the other side of the lagoon which works out quite nicely.

A few more chasing/play shots

This one is a bit flawed since I didn't get the whole of the bird on the left because I was tracking the more aggressive one that was chasing the others. I still quite like it since the left one looks a bit surprised and you can still see the eyes of the one chasing.

A few times they flapped to go a little faster and I managed to catch one

Decide to go sit on the beach for a while yesterday at low tide to get some shots of the Turnstones. They're quite amusing to watch and quite inquisitive. They seem braver than the Seagull and the Crows which I see combing the beach for snacks. They roam the shoreline looking for food and dodging the waves.

First shot isn't a Turnstone and is a bit boring but I just wondered what it was going to do with that fish egg thingy? Nesting material I guess?

Here the Turnstone almost gets caught out whilst it was getting a bit of meat out of a Mussel or something

It slows down a bit after it realises the water won't climb more heh

Seems to have managed to get a ring of food around it's beak lol

It got pretty close to come take a look at me sitting there in my waterproofs with my hood up.

Took a bunch of shots the last time I was in London with the thought of maybe stitching them together as my 18-35mm wasn't quite wide enough.

I was slightly rushing it since I didn't fancy getting run over! The street was reasonable quiet but I still had to get out of the way of a few cars lol... In all that I ended up taking these shots at 35mm rather than a bit wider. It probably helped with the stitching but meant I needed a lot more shots. This was around 15 shots.

This was my first test of the latest version of Microsoft I.C.E (image composite editor) and I'm quite impressed :) For such a small tool, it does a good job.

I saw him land somewhere so I went to check and found him taking a rest. With these shots the Kestrel is actually at around the height of my feet since the tree is at the bottom of a little slope right next to the promenade along the seafront. I guess he's quite used to people if he's ok with hunting near the seafront here since there's always people around.

After getting a bunch of shots I started to inch forward every now and then. He would usually throw me a look when I moved and then would look away once I kept still for a while

Ended up zooming out to 200mm to get a bit more into the shot... Nice problem to have with a bird :)
