Most you may have already seen glimpses of the Phanteks Glacier water cooling range which has appeared at shows and on a couple of review sites. Now it is time to for the actual release of the Glacier range which Phanteks have been working hard to get right and to make them different to all the other water cooling products out already.
Phanteks has a reputation for trying things differently and offering excellent quality and performance from the products they create. They started out with coolers and fans which even after 4 years in the market still offer excellent performance and build quality compared to some of the other coolers currently around. They try to think outside of the box and offer something a little different to try and make them unique as you can see from the coolers when they created the different range of colours to try and allow people to match the colour schemes.
Alongside coolers Phanteks have been creating amazing cases over the last 3-4 years offering people the ability to have a solidly built and well-designed case whatever your build maybe. You may have seen a lot of water cooled builds done in Phanteks cases so it is only natural that they wish to enter the market in water cooling.
The Glacier range starts today with what Phanteks believe are the necessary components to create a water cooled build and I agree. A lot of manufacturers create parts for the 1 system out of a 100 that needs it causing it too become confusing when trying to select fittings and parts. They have introduced a range that uses the 2 main colours and the main sizes to get the range going in the right direction from the start.
The Glacier range is not only designed in the usual black for the CPU and GPU block they have decided to also go with a chrome look as well which I must say I really like as is something different.
The CPU blocks are designed to work with the majority of Intel Sockets. The base is Nickel Plated and the top is either a black anodised aluminium or glossy metallic chrome-plated aluminium heatsink bracket, with a polished acrylic glass (cover). The covers can be removed as they are magnetic which has been designed that way due to the RGB strip installed into the block meaning if an LED does fail it is very easy to replace with out striping the whole block. The CPU also uses the Viton O rings which are used on the GPU and Fittings to offer you better reliability.
The GPU water blocks are made from premium materials with 0.4mm high density fins for the best overclocking performance. VITON Orings from the Automotive and Aerospace Industries ensure the best reliability and longevity. They have been designed for the GTX 1080 FE, ASUS Strix, Gigabyte G1, EVGA FTW and MSI Gaming Cards.
As you may have guessed the range is RGB which seems to be the way the industry is going but the Glacier range is very different. The RGB can be controlled via software for the whole loop. What I mean by this is when you have a Phanteks case with LED stripes, CPU Block, GPU Block and RGB motherboard they can all be controlled at the same time using the motherboard software. The RGB function is mainly designed to work with Asus AURA, MSI Mystic and Gigabyte RGB fusion. You do not need a Phanteks case but you will need an RGB compatible motherboard to get the full functionality of the RGB on the blocks.

So that is the blocks now on to the fittings which have a distinct look with a high quality finish. They have been precisely engineered with high flow in mind as well as reliability and performance. The Glacier fittings use a different O-ring to the normal fittings on the market which is called Viton. Viton is a much stronger material than the usual rubber o-rings currently in fittings meaning they are a lot harder to damage when inserting the tubing.
