--- Phenom 2 Benchmarks ---

not I. I'm into chasing GHz. Best way to get performance with today's software.

Means you must have loved those P4s :D They gave you all those GHz

j/k :)

But I have to admit, if this is slower clock for clock than Q6600 then AMD have totally failed.

The release date taken from another website.

We received news that the expected launch date of the AMD Phenom II processors would be Jan 8 , 2009. Although it is a launch, retail products won't be available till Feb 4, 2009. Pre-orders should take place in from Jan 8 onwards.

The first two models that will appear would be model 920 and model 940. Both are 45nm and code named "Deneb".

Model 920 is rated 2.8GHz (14x200) and is a Quad Core processor. It has a HT link of 1.8GHz. It will have 256KB L1, 2M L2 and 6M L3 cache. 125W

Model 940 is also quad core and is rated at 3GHz (15x200). it also has a HT Link of 1.8GHz, 256KB L1, 2M L2 and 6M L3 cache.

yeah the other links show it at least on par with the q6600 in 3dmark once the HTT is clocked properly

Think I'l go for an i7 then, was going to see what Deneb was like and save on having to buy DDR3 memory but I'm too impatient to wait until February. :p

20th December was rumoured at a few times. Lo and verily on ye 20th of December, naught did happen, and the internets were inundated with no new information.

I'm guessing 8th January is when they're supposed to go on sale and the NDA drops.

Multiplier clocking on Phenom IIs isn't the best way to get decent performance from them, but I suspect many hardware sites are talentless at overclocking, and the reviews as per usual will be "I done got it ups to tree fitty. Buts Intels still faster". Which doesn't matter to me since I'm getting one anyway, regardless of any other reviews.
