Phenom II X4 955 DDR 3 1333 mhz Support?

Hey guys I will be getting the above processor(on a tight budget for now), I've read that it supports up to DDR3 1333mhz. So if I have 1600mhz RAM will it work?. and can I overclock the CPU?

Yes you can overclock the CPU but you'll probably have stability problems running the memory at 1600mhz, the memory controller is unlikely to handle it.

You're probably better off at 1333mhz with low timings anyhow.

nonsense, i've run my 955 with XMS3 1600 ram for yonks now, ram has always been at 1600 with Cas 8 timings, right upto 4.4Ghz on the chip

Depends how many sticks you use, if you only have two it's a lot easier on the controller.

thats common knowledge by now surely, but yes, less sticks is always better for overclock stability

Thx for the response guys, So should I get the 1600mhz RAM or stick with 1333mhz RAM(Would it be possible to overclock that to 1600mhz with no issues?). I'd prefer 1600mhz as it would speed up loading on games etc??

It'll run 1600MHz no fuss.

I've run 4 x 2GB 1600MHz Corsair (8GB) with a 720BE, 2 x 965BE's, an X3 550, and a 1090T, all handled it without a problem.

I'm now running 4 x 4GB 1600MHz Corsair (16GB) on a 1100T and again no problem at all.
