Phenom II X6

got mine today - was aiming for 4ghz but it doesnt look like that's going to happen.

1.45v @ 4Ghz (200x20) pushes my temps up to 60Degrees C!!! - With a H50 its not having it :(

thats a shame ... gut feeling and probably wrong is that they may clock better on the 890 series chipset

running a beta bios here on my gigabyte board so not expecting a big clock myself tomorrow but will give it a go to see what the limits are on the 790FX chipset

not an overclocking in general but will be happy for a stable 3.4 to 3.8 with hopefully turbo kicking it to 4Ghz on single threads when needed

I've got the 890GX mainboard along with 8Gb of RAM (All four slots used) which is probably prohibiting me.

All I did was up voltage and set to 200x20 (all else stock volts). Disabled Turbo in BIOS (thank god it can be disabled!)

Needed 1.35v to boot @ 4ghz, currently priming for past 20minutes with 1.4v (but I also upped CPU-NB volts this time)

My 4 slot memory setup is probably gunna require more juice to run.

Anyone know what the max CPU temp should be on these babies? thanks

If I can hit at least 3.8 on all siz cores I'll be more than happy :) :) - aiming for 4Ghz first though lol

I think you have the same mainboard as me, the ud5. I checked the cpu support list and GB only list the 1055T 95w and 1035T 95w variant.

I hope it works for you!

Im still not sure about new X6 as it just add 2 more core plus Turbo core but still same as Quad core in 45nm die core - I would think I rather to wait for new AMD Fusion from 2011 with 32nm and will using new 8 and 12 core so I save some money just now as my PC running X4 965BE that I bought 4 months ago so cant buy new on in short time... X6 seem good one that up to you to buy or wait for new one next year...

:D

err I have the UD5P but I flashed to the beta bios f8f ( I think ) which isnt even officially available yet  but a link was posted on here somewhere

so everything will be crossed it actually works with the 1090 or I will not be a very happy chappy tomorrow - DPD usually get to this area around 3pm so wont know til sometime after that

BUT I have confidence ... it WILL work .. it WILL rock my encoding world .. it better cos I aint paying £800 to Intel thats for sure :D

I used a beta bios from GB and it only had the 1035T and 1055T 95w listed as supported.

Thats why I never ordered the 1055T 125w :(

Seems we have different mainboards anyway.

Turns out the max cpu temp is 62Degrees C - phew!.

Currently messing with settings aiming for 4Ghz - just wish I had better cooling (Miss my old Dangerden w/c kit!)

hmmmm seems strange the reviews dont report extreme high temps when clocked .. though they do say they ramp up quickly the more you clock

maybe you could try cleaning & reseating the H50 - what are your idle temps as in general the reviews are saying idles at around low mid 20C's

Im hoping my 790FX works OK with the 1090 and its supposed to be cooler than the 965 which i can report mine at the mo clocked @3.8 maxed encoding is hitting 45-46C using an H50

hope you get your temps sorted then you should be good for 4Ghz stable

Currently hitting the 55's whilst priming @ 4Ghz/1.4v

My idle temps are about 35 Degrees C (thats at 4Ghz though!) - to be honest I should prime this bloomin thing at stock first to eliminate the other stuff out of the equation - maybe this weekend when I get more time lol.

If I can sort out my temps then I'm pretty sure this will be rock solid stable @4ghz with around 1.45v - Anyone know the operating voltage of these babies?

55 isnt so bad

my 965 used to hit 55C when encoding at stock using the supplied AMD cooler

but the H50 has knocked 10C+ off my temps even when I add a clock :D

roll on tomorrows delivery and hope I dont see black/grey smoke rising from the case innards if the board fries the chip .... not nice with fish - confidence ... it will work perfectly :D

Same architecture yes, but got to rem those extra two cores fit into the same 125W TDP as the 965, so there has been some tweaking of the fab process going on.

I should be getting my 1090T tomorrow, cant wait :D

lol martini! - whats 70 quid when your rocking dual SSD's and gfx :P

no more for me though - this system has already cost me a grand and shud last till bulldozer - time to pay it all off now lol ;)

If I needed 2 extra cores, I'd definitely be going the 1055T.
I can't justify it due to not really using the 955 as it is.
For the price though and with any sort of mild overclock, it would be a great deal.
