lmao :D:D:D:D:D

Here is a question. when traveling abroad for holiday, do you bring all your lenses/kit with you or just slap on a walkabout lens and thats it?

when i went to vegas i took 3 lenses plus my 5D2 along with tripod and flash. Reckon I'd get away with just the two lenses now (or 3 if i fork out for another one!) might just use the gorilla pod rather than taking the full tripod in main bag.

Yep, I take all 1 of my lenses :D

I'd probably take a wide-ish prime (35) and a decent zoom like a 70-200 (if i had one)!

Quick question, why are Nikon/Canon flashes so expensive, what's the difference between one of them and a Yongnuo for example (apart from build qual)?

Spent 3 weeks in France recently, took 5D2 and 7D and 6 lenses. Space and weight wasn't an issue as we were driving.
South Africa safari last year was a weight issue but wore back pack for bodies and lenses and also a Domke vest which carried everything else. I looked a right nerd and felt as though I was under 3X mavity but it got me through SAA check-in.
I'm having sleepless nights about next years trip to the Galapagos.

I'm sure the weight issues are minor compared to the images you got / will get when you go on your trips though.

Cheers Derek, I hope so :)
However, some airlines can get right snotty about cabin luggage weight and I'm certainly not putting any gear in the hold.
It appears to be totally arbitrary, depends if the person checking you in had a good nights sleep.

Shot my first wedding this weekend as a "photographer" rather than a guest with a good camera and loved it! Learned so much just shooting on the day, already know where I feel I can improve and gained a lot more confidence just from one days shooting. Really want to do more!

Love the idea of this thread too :)

Did you get a buzz from it? :)

You should post some shots up! Congrats on the wedding, was it a paid job?

I only asked for expenses as I would have been there as a guest anyway, I've known the guy for a while and he doesn't like having his picture taken (shows in a lot of the shots, doesn't like the attention but she wanted to get married) so I didn't want to promise fantastic shots. They only asked me to do the formal groups but with it being "her day" I knew she'd rather have the whole day so gave it a shot :)

I'll post some shots up later but don't expect them to be at Raymond's standard just yet, I had a quick flick through on the netbook last night self critting the shots and already I know where I could have done a lot of the shots better :(

BA and Sleasyjet don't get snotty about weight. If it fits in the guage and you can lift it unaided into the overhead bin, they're fine. The 800mm f5.6 fits. I usually manage over 20kg of glass in a carry-on bag :-)
