JED08.jpg

loveeiiittt :D

Thanks dude :)

Side note, what was SO awesome about this couple, they needed ZERO direction...they were SO awesome with each other, they were SO into each other.

Anyone that does regular wedding photography will know what I mean, you sometimes get couples that are really awkward around each other, and when you take them off to get formals they stand next to each other like they have only just met! It's nuts when they are married!

However, these 2...nothing like that at all, zero direction, just so so so amazingly into each other - it was such an incredible thing to witness (and is when this happens it's about 1 in every 5) and photograph.

Anyway, heres an example.

JED09.jpg

For this it was literally

"James, sit behind Eli"
*Jake stands up on chair*
"James, kiss Eli"

20-30 shots of amazingness :) - They did this with no other direction. Was...incredible :)

This weekend I discovered two things:

1) Not getting a tripod and buying clothes instead was a mistake
2) Using cheap tripods can be a crap idea
3) Tripod coming loose and landing on the Sigma 105 makes it make a loud grinding noise when focusing
4) This was not two things

^^^
Sorry to here that, may I ask how cheap this tripod was, as I'm looking to get one soon but don't want to spend a fortune on something I won't use often, but at the same time I don't want to buy a liability either.

I learnt that lesson early when I used a Hama one and realised the plastic twist system that held the camera in place is so rubbish it cannot hold an SLR in place.

It was my fault really, as I only lightly tightened it. The fact I'd taken painkillers to dampen a slight hangover was also my fault :D The tripod is a Sherpa velbon summut or other that I bought years ago, the first few weeks I got addicted to photography :D

The Sigma 105 seems to have stopped making the noise now, but after that noise I think I might be investing in a Canon macro lens next, with internal focusing! I might get it as a bundle when the new 5D comes out. That's going to be my 2012 treat :D

This one is really good, nice simple direction to get a great natural shot, very well done!

Thanks fella :)

Check the image url and change JED01 to 10 to flick through the little sneak peek I've done.

I'm going to do a big thread with a lot of text describing the day lots of pics, the whole day was an amazing experience and it's such a nice change to go to a wedding for 2 people you care about and I am genuinely happy for them both. I felt massively privileged that they asked me to do their wedding - Even though, they couldn't have been an easier couple to work with, the pressure was on as I REALLY wanted to make sure I got this right for them they did after all pay for my flight and accommodation.

Either way, was an amazing 4 days away...was great to get out of the country and I don't think I've enjoyed a wedding more :)

Thanks dude :)

Ive woken up this morning to a lot of Italien people on Facebook liking and commenting on them lol! Shame I don't speak the lingo! Haha

I seem to upload so many more photos than any of my contacts in Flickr. Is it just wierd that I take so many pictures or just wierd that I spam them all?

I think it's something you eventually grow out of. At the moment I get really trigger happy with my camera, last time I went out I took 1600+ shots and only around 450 were keepers. As you get better you'll probably get less trigger happy (Quality>Quantity). You'll also probably raise your own standards and start being more picky about which photos you keep.

May have something to do with my hoarding personality too... I just like to have stuff and keep stuff.
In other news, I now have a 135L. Looking forward to using it!

Ooooh a 135L!! :D

Awesome awesome lens! I love mine! It's incapable of taking a bad photo :D

Enjoy it! \o/

Speaking of lenses, my 'new lens' itch needs scratching again :o

Curse you L glass...curse you :(

I just need to get used to standing a million miles away from things now...
It's a big difference from my 50mm :)

Go find a big group of people and stand to one side of them and focus on people the other side of that group.

Bokegasm ahoy! You'll love the lens! :)

i had to take down some of m arsenal vs swansea pics and that blooming TP forum went all ape **** on me when posted it so no doubt one of those jabroni's would report me to that company that has rights to taking pics of premiership players.

You're not making money off it though?
I need to get a lens hood for the 135, but I don't really know why. I'm not sure what the difference is with one and without.
