10fps makes my cpu cry, but saying that, i'm managing to get more FPS than better systems than mine are getting from the screenshots posted here? I was also running at a higher res

I know... but that's the only way I found to run it without the card, and it took me enough googling to find that out so I can't be bothered to do it again :D
Here...

Add this to the shortcut on your desktop in the command line ;)

EnablePhysX=false

:D :D

hmm, doesn't seem to be much difference in gfx quality when running without the physx card. and framerates seem to be about the same if not better without the physx card.

wonder what ageia have to say about this?

It's a shame the physics looks the same with or without the PPU enabled.

I think AGEIA didn't expect that the demo could work without the PPU...I think that this will hurt them for sure...uncovering that the demo without the PPU enabled works just the same as it would be with the PPU enabled, it almost sounds as if they're trying to lie about PhysX's capability.

I think AGEIA could be in trouble if things like this keeps on occuring.

This is really sad, I think this is nearly the last nail in the coffin for Agiea, shame really, I had high hopes for the company, I still think advanced physics is the next step in gaming but Ageia have just gone about it the wrong way, when I first ran Cell Factor and saw how wonderfull it looked I thought that we was wrong to pre-judge on the performnace of GRAW alone but inlight of Cell Factor running practicly the same without a PPU (if not faster, and pretty much the same quality) then I have to say that Havok may be the better choice, I tbh looking back it if it was'nt for the fact that thier SDK is free I don't think they would have even made it this far :(

Wasn't too bad, managed to run it with just about everything on full and get "acceptable" framerates, had to turn down some detail to get good fps though. Mostly just took a small-medium hit on first impact of grenades etc, but the game had my cpu and ram at 80% load almost the whole time anyways, which probably explains why it slowed down!

Physics on the game are great, look the same as the video even without a PhysX card, I just need a meatier CPU to run everything maxed out, but it's certainly playable on medium settings with great physics. Bring on Conroe! :D

i said it once and i will say it again. this is the most useless piece of technology to ever come to the pc.

usually the rich would buy this card, but in this case only the stupid have bought it.

Completely agree with this statement.
The below oultines my thoughts....

I am beginning to think this whole thing is a con & that the PhysX chip doesnt even work. Its a piece of metal & resistors being with a detection chip - The games are coded to detect the card & then the physiscs are done in software mode, which is why performance lowers. The card is made for £1-£2 & the rest is profit split between Ageia & the software companies who are under an NDA (to ever prevent the truth from being revealed).

Edited to add: i posted this after page 2 & now having got to the end i see my thoughts look to be true.

that made me chuckle :D

couldn't resist having a go with this game, so, loaded it up on the high icon, changed to native res (12x10) and started playing. :)
Low quality .jpeg's due to FRAPS using massive .bmp files.

All in all, quite fun, wasnt bothered about fps as i didnt notice any lag etc.

Running on an x2 @ 2.75, x1900xtx & 2gb ram.

The major fps drops only occur when you add in bots. Hardware for my system at least is still faster than software mode. Also you'll notice that without the PhysX enabled the cloth banner isnt there, much like in the editor, would appear that for this game at least, PhysX is required to render such effects.
