PIC of your Notification Area / System Tray - NOW

For anyone else that was dumbfounded when people talked of the Windows Vista "Snipping tool" (as I was), you have to go into Control Panel and enable the Windows feature "Tablet PC Optional Components".

Not as dumbfounded as those (such as I) that looked for it with XP........ :o

In your security centre settings, there's a link on the left hand side that says:

"Change the way Security Centre alerts me"

Click on that and uncheck all the boxes

People still use single height task bars? :o :o

Actually now that widescreen monitors are becoming more prevalent, there is less need to use a 'deep' taskbar compared to before. I've used 2 lines (seems to give 3 for systray in Vista) ever since Quicklaunch was introduced on my main rig, but on backup rigs with less stuff I use single line.

I used to be incredibly minimalist with my systray (having nothing but an ISDN driver monitor there) but in recent years I've stopped disabling so much. Currently got:

Wireless utility
WLAN optimizer
Safely Remove hardware
AVG
X-Fi control
Logitech LCD Manager
Logitech Keyboard Profiler (should nuke this really as I never use it)

I don't get why anyone would want it more than 1 line high to be honest. Any more and it just looks cluttered and is a terrible waste of space.

if you generally have a lot of stuff open and a lot in quickstart and systray (i.e. you actually use your PC for more than benchmarks and doing 1 thing at a time) then having just 1 line deep is a lot more cluttered - your area for open programs is much smaller and just looks a bit naff to be honest.

all IMO of course.
