[PIC_THREAD] Nature, Flora and Fauna

Like the orchid. I always seem to have trouble getting enough DOF to keep the whole thing sharp although ours at home are quite big which doesn't help. Do you use a tripod when shooting these?

Some of my non macro nature shots. These two were taken with an old nikon 80-200 f2.8 ED.

These were taken with a mamiya-sekor 150mm f2.8 A. (wide open) It's got the creamiest bokeh I've ever seen, certainly a good rival for my zeiss 85 f1.4.

I uploaded the above photo to flickr late last night, about 10:30pm.

Had a look this morning and it made the Explore page. First time i've had a photo on there. It had received over a thousand views and 20 odd faves overnight, which is very unusual for one of mine in such a short space of time..

I assume it was only on there for a bit, until the flickr clock ticked over to Monday morning as i can't see it on the Explore page now?

EDIT: having said that, the views are still racking up, 300 in the last hour?

From having a quick read about it, I think its faves, likes and comments in a short space of time but the photo can't be in more than 5 groups. Nothing to do with the quality of the pic, hence why you see some questionable ones in there sometimes. Think it also has to have a certain number of tags attached to it.

It's people with 1000's of followers that get their pics liked/faved as soon as they upload them that usually end up in Explore. I only have 400 odd followers.

In my case i received 3 faves and 20 odd views within a few minutes after putting my pic in 5 'bokeh' groups which is what i assume triggered the criteria to get invited into the Explore group.
