Pick up new car or wait until 1st March?

My brother in law had the same problem a few years back. He only had to wait a few weeks and I told him he would regret it when the new plate comes out. he went and got t anyway then wrote it off a few weeks later....

Ha, this has just got a whole lot more complicated for me!

Ford are now offering a further £500 off any car but the car has to be registered by the 28th Feb (so would have to be a 64 plate).

This means i either wait and get a 15 plate put on the car, or get a 64 plate and save £500....

I don't know what to do :(

Trouble is, what if there is an even better offer, or they extend the offer from the 1st March? Then I will be realy peeved as i might have got a further discount AND a 15 plate.

Interesting. I'm after a new Ford at the moment and have been waiting for thr 15 plate but if they offered me this I'd definitely take the 64 plate for a £500 reduction. I doubt it would take more than £500 off the resale value in the future, you can always say it was "just a week off a 15 plate".

I'd wait.

Infact I am waiting on my new car but as I have a private 15 plate to go on the car, I can't really drive it till then any how. :)

Indeed. I intend to keep it 4/5 years i reckon so the plate probably isnt going to make much difference when seeling it in 4/5 years.

What is the consensus - In 4 or 5 years time will a 2015 64 plate and a 2015 15 plate have any real difference in value at this age?

Really swaying towards taking the £500 discount and having 64 on the front instead of 15.

Parkers free valuations seem to suggest ~£250 between plates but that may not be an accurate reflection of the real world when I come to sell it.

Do it, £500 is a decent chunk of change and an amount I can't see being pocketed come sale time because of the newer plate

when coming to sell it being a 15 plate might give it that edge over a 64 as to many people it'd appear to be a newer car but don't know if itd actually make it worth more
