Not really related but what oil are you using out of interest ?

Fuchs Titan Race Pro-S 5W-40 Ester based Fully Synth and it's changed every 5k miles.

The 5W-30 OEM oil is a little thinner at operating temp and I wanted a little extra heat protection with the extra power hence the 5W-40.

You want huge power then you got be happy with spending out for the huge bills that come with it...

Absolutely this! Although I'd probably not use the word "happy" :D

Is this not a message that doing 30k a year in a 10 year old car with almost a thousand bhp doesn't work? :p

[pedant]24k in 18 months in an 8 year old car with 900hp[/pedant] :D

..........and as mentioned previously, that fact it went pop isn't a surprise given the bits you mentioned, it's purely the timing that's a bummer.

Ah OcUK, you funny guys, I kill you LAST :D

So, organs still intact, anus still intact, no sudden urge to be a hairdresser etc!

The car was dropped off to Unit20 in early Jan and for a mix of reasons, namely my financial ones (tax & insurance both due in Jan so £1300+ gone) & their workload ones (just moved premises) they weren't stripping the engine until sometime in early Feb.

So the next update probably won't be until the around end of Feb, then the car should be ready around March/April time depending on the engine rebuild I'd guess but if anything happens, or I get a sudden urge for a blue rinse from Acme, I'll post both here and in the PH thread.

Cheers!

They loaned me an Audi A3 1.9TDi and, with the 52-ish measured mpg, it's nice to be able to drive past a Shell garage without my wallet being beaten like a ginger stepchild :D

I hope you're filling it up on the cheapest peasant fuel you can find. Just so you can appreciate the elite upper class fuel when you get it back.
