Hi all, i went to a restaraunt(well, too good to be pub grub, not flashy enough to be restaraunt) the other night with work, and we were all handed the menus.
I was chatting with the bloke next to me about what i was going to choose (there was quite a good varity, English, Spanish, Italian etc). Anyway once i'd finished blabbing, i asked him what he ws choosing, and he stated he didnt like ANY of the meals on the menu. "I won't eat that forign muck, plain English is all i eat."
I was quite surprised, but i pointed out several traditional english dishes..
Sausage and Mash - "Don't like sausage with herbs in, or the onion in the gravy"
Beef and veg (roast dinner basically) "Don't like veg or fruit"
Fish and chips - "don't like Haddock, only like Cod."

Anyway this went on for a few more meals, and in the end he chose something off the childrens menu, Beans on Toast.

Now i guess i'm lucky, as theres isn't really many foods i don't actually like, but a part of me wonders on what exactly he's been living off for 30 odd years!I don't know why, but i also found it slightly annoying, don't know why though.
Does anyone else know anybody like this?
Rant over.

Well, i'm about as picky as they come

Wont touch fruit, wont touch veg, anything that isnt 'plain' is basically a no for me

I dont have a reason to be picky, im not allergic or anything i just dont like them, it makes me feel bad in restaraunts but i cant particualrly help it, thankfully many people accept that

People like that really annoy me, it's not like it's something you can't change either...

I'll eat anything these days (though I used to be fairly fussy as a kid until I realised it really wasn't worth making a fuss about :p).

You think that's fussy?

29 year old Dave Nunley eats about 275 grams of grated cheddar cheese a day.

He has been eating this way since he was a toddler.

Thanks to the assistance of health experts Dave can "now eat an occasional bowl of Ready Brek or a bag of salt and vinegar crisps".

Dave seems to be in good health:

[...]the only side effect of his diet is tiredness and he considers his health is "spot on" apart from lacking in Vitamin B.

"I would consider myself fairly healthy. I take vitamin tablets and go to the gym two or three times a week," he said. (from Hunts Post)

The BBC TV series Freaky Eaters has uncovered some bizarre diets - but Dave the cheese man has to take the cake (so to speak).

Except for his very occasional crisps and "Ready Brek" - Dave hasn't really eaten carbohydrates since infancy.

JUST CHEESE?

i will eat absolutly anything so im not hugely bothered but picky eatters can get on my nerves if im cooking or waiting to order

i'm really picky, but not that picky

i'm not too bad in restaurants, but when i'm tescos or whatever i only ever choose produce produced in the UK (exception of fruit and veg), and i only eat free range eggs and chicken.

picky eaters are one of my pet hates

it's all to do with what foods you were introduced to as a child, simple as

I can be a bit fussy...usual things like i generally dislike vegtables except for carrots and a few other things. I loathe mushrooms, peanut butter and marmite. :p I'm not keen on fresh fish actually.

When it comes to it, there is ALWAYS something on the menu i will like so i suppose i'm not that fussy after all. :)

I hate people like that. A good friend of mine from the US was coming to Europe for the first time a few months ago.

I said "great - you can sample all the fantastic cuisine"

"do they have McDonalds?"

"yes, but..."

"I only want McDonalds."

"but there's so much amazing stuff over here"

"I don't want any of it"

"You haven't tried it!"

"I don't care. What are you eating now??"

"Um.... pitta and taramasalata"

"What's that?"

"It's Greek - its a fish dip"

"Yuck. Sounds like muck to me, I'll have burgers"

AGhhhh!!!

Very few things I don't like (whole fish, asparagus, artichoke, mushy peas)

Annoyingly, my gf hates all seafood, so calamari, scampi and prawns never feature on our shared meals :(

She also hates all nuts except peanuts and pistachios, but hates peanut butter, lol

Also won't eat granary type breads with grainy bits in it.

Thankfully, she likes marmite :D

I guess, i dislike a few foods, but ill eat them. But there is one thing which i hate, mushrooms, the texture is just disgusting. :(

Used to be quite fussy when I was younger but contently eat most stuff now. Once you get older you realise its pretty awkward and sometimes rude not to eat whats on offer. Then most things you try actually turn out to be very nice and you kick yourself for not having tried them sooner.

I know what you mean about Americans and there weird taste in food. A mate of mine from Wisconsin complained that his fish had bones in it. When I mentioned the fact that it used to be a fish and wouldn't last long without bones he nearly threw up because it wasn't processed in a factory.

Oh my!! :/

I'd eat anything except plain pasta type food.

The funniest thing was that we ended up in a restaurant in Belgium and there was Paard on the menu. When she asked what it was and the waiter said horse she nearly cried.

ROFL cheval sandwich s'il vous plais!

I guess it's all to to with what you were given in the early years, i wasn't allowed to leave the table until i'd eaten what was on offer.
I few of the foods i don't like...

Lentills
Cucumber

That bloke in the restaraunt has eaten bread and butter sandwiches everyday for dinner for about 18 years. How boring.

But i guess if it ain't broke...
