That is just outstanding for £12k Nick. You must be well pleased. IMO one of the finest cars ever produced with one of the (if not THE) worlds BEST diesel engine.

Ah nice one mate - I do intend to get it chipped, but what sort of things did it do to your insurance?

Dont chip it, they dont respond well to chips and the ECUs can fry. You need to get it re-mapped. Simon (or Steve) cant remember which, from e-maps will do you a world of good. 240bhp and 470nm torque for about £300 depending on where you are..

Clever

It put my premium up by about £100 a year!
Why should have to tell them about something that isn't there,it's only a reflash on the ECU..How are they going to find that it's remapped when even BMW have trouble and my insurance is already expensive..Alan

When you crash, and it goes in for an insurance repair, then they try to reset warning systems and cant because its been flashed or chipped.

You said you had it chipped!? Thats different to having the ECU flashed, so which is it!?

An E46 ECU (any late BMW ECU) is easy to spot a flash, as it locks down the ECU code. Handy, as BMW will just charge you for a brand new one costing £700 because they wont be able to access it!

I'm not having a go mate, i've just seen this happen way to many times, and in the long run, its worth paying the small amount extra to cover it.
