*** Pictures of things we bought in February ***

Have a cookie :D

It's part of my AS Physics coursework, we have to give a talk about the properties of a material - i figure it'd be slightly more fun to demonstrate and explain piezoelectric than just mumble over a powerpoint.

Lucky you, my coursework last year was about myopia, quite boring. Thanks for the cookie :)

Bought myself a well deserved birthday present :p

A Warco WM240B lathe :D. First job was to turn off the stupid spring loaded "safety spring cover" on the chuck key. Its got an interlocked chuck guard, why on earth would I need a spring loaded cover for the chuck key? Its now useable!

Nope.

XA is considered the best.
XA1 is rubbish - poor quality build
XA2 - good
XA3 - good
XA4 - good and rare :)

What are the actual differences? I looked into them a while back, all i remember is that the XA is the only one that actually is a rangefinder and the rest are zone focus? Not even sure if that's right tbh :p

I did hear that the flash unit wasn't worth bothering with though.

I have the same bed - just don't slide it across the floor with the mattress on, the central metal supports can snap off.

Found out when I got in and started to sink as the metal spine gave way :( had to bend it back and create some wooden supports held on by brackets.

Lol... I have the same bed too

Yes you're right the XA is the only true Rangefinder amongst them, there are subtle differences to the others.

Flash units are underpowered but useful at a push.

The differences between them are as follows:-

Olympus XA: small rangefinder with aperture priority 35mm f2.8 lens
Olympus XA1: simple mechanical camera with a selenium meter (generally agreed to be the one to avoid)
Olympus XA2: scale focus camera, automatic shutter 35mm f3.5 lens
Olympus XA3: Same as XA2 with "DX" automatic film speed recognition
Olympus XA4: distance focus camera, 28mm wide macro lens DX automatic film recognition

This link explains a little about them

:D

Didn't buy it as such, more found it when we were clearing my Grandad's house out... still works nearly 40 years after it was bought!
