Please tell me you're not planning on using knives on that board? It'll ruin them. Wood is the best for chopping, followed by plastic (though some people are concerned about bacteria levels on plastic boards). Never ever chop on a granite or glass board.

For your own safety, I would suggest you get that socket moved asap

Thanks for the shoes link before, they arrived today and they're every bit as comfortable as I remember, they're actually closer to the ground than my brown Air Max which I thought were amazingly comfortable too but these are even better.

Funky "box" it comes in too.

1998 106 GTI. Only 45,000 miles and the interior is immaculate, the exterior has some really annoying dents, all at the same level so it must have been parked somewhere stupid by previous owner. Weighed up next to the other ones I'd looked at, mechanically this one is so fantastic so I decided to take it and sort the bodywork out, because that can be seen to but you can't get back 40,000 miles! It's completely standard too.

Exactly the only thing granite is good for is rolling out pastry. I put a granite chopping board by my BBQ once and discovered how crap they are for your knives. Granite isn't even that great for putting hot pans on, of course I would use a granite board though for that.
