piledriver - Official AMD FX4300,FX6300 and FX8350 review thread

stable @ 4.0ghz x264 results

stable at 4.2. had to increase the vcore now from stock to 1.4V. 200 X 21

Temps were hitting 36C in core temp so going to say that's actualy 56C.

Might try for 4.3

Yes exactly
PD doesn't have anywhere near the performance of chips such as the 3930K.
Anyone who wants high performance needs to look elsewhere.

There new and shiny and something to play with thats all.

edit: As to the playing I have my 8230 running P95 at 4.7Ghz
Temps are a bit high but it is hanging on in there.

yeh but 3930K is about £450 and the 8350 is like £160. So if you have £450 to spend on a cpu alone you wouldn't even be looking at a 8350.

What was the decision on CPU temps to watch? I'm hitting 61C on the CPU temp in the Asus software and 55C in coretemp while running IBT. Have I got any more head room?

my core temps is totaly buggered. says my cpus ide temps are 15C.

worked out it was 20C out.

Once mine hits 45C which is really 65C it starts to throttle the cpu down.

It looks like my core temps are reading OK under load, but not at idle as everyone says. They've not gone over 58c yet, but I have seen 66c on the CPU temp which I think is the socket?

Currently stress testing 4.8ghz. What's your PLL voltage (also called VDDA)? I've got that at just under 2.7v and it's helped me get a higher clock without loads more core.

Edit; Woot! 20 run IBT stable @4.8ghz. :)

I would say you've gota thermal issue there look at the cpu-z

X7 multiplyer its downclocked itself

I said i would do some tests in Heaven to see if there was any multi GPU improvement.
As this test is in the main GPU limited there shouldn't really be much difference between different CPU's,
As long as the CPU has enough grunt to keep GPU's fed the scores should be very similar.

I used a pair of 680's with mild overclocks. core+120 mem+480

The FX 8150 and FX 8320 ran at the same clocks 4.6 with the same memory speed and in the same MB. Sabretooth 990FX
I just swapped the CPU's around.

For comparison i used an Intel 3820 also running at 4.6

The 8320 shows improvement over the 8150 but is still holding the GPU's back some what.

Don't suppose U've got an i5 you can do the test on?

I can't do 4.8ghz 24/7 with my ghetto cooling loop, shame. Looks like it'll be 4.6 for me until I can improve my cooling.

4.6ghz, 1.5vcore, 249x18.5, 2500HT, RAM 1998MHz (10-10-10-28). That's hitting 57c core and 64c CPU during Prime blend.

wats with the massive vcore jump.

at 4.3 im stable at 1.3vcore.

1750mhz ram not sure on timings though

200 X 21.5

2200HT

IBT is stable at lower vcore, but Prime will barely start without it being higher. I could possibly sneak that down at 4.6ghz but TBH I haven't had chance to check it. Been testing all day! :o

Maybe your chip is better than mine. Push it and find out.

yeh I tested mine with prime95 first.

If I push it any further I get thermal throttling.

Might try re-seating my water block tomorrow see if that's the problem.

I can get it stable to 4.8 but it throttles down
