"Pillars of Eternity: RPG funded by Kickstarter"

My concern is this is a big software house just muscling their way in on kickstarter. Quite surprised

DRM Free: We are looking into it! Please check back for updates.

They're probably made more money out of this game from Kickstarter than they would have by selling it and yet they are only considering it.

My pledge is still on but if DRM stays I don't :)

Well the point is that without Kickstarter they wouldn't be able to find a publisher for the game in it's current vision.

Even if they could find a publisher they all of a sudden have a checklist of things they need to change about the game in accordance with what the publisher wants. It also brings about deadline pressures and a whole load of other things to worry about.

Basically Kickstarter allows them to create a game with no restrictions in a way free from pressure, it will be interesting to see the results of this approach to see if it is worth it.

Understood and I love the publisher free concept, but they have to play ball and not go for a publisher approach with a kick starter funding. Just a mild concern. I dislike the stretch goals as well - way to quickly released and again no real connection with their audience unlike other Kickstarter campaigns.

Still debating here - i'm in but not 100% comfortable with it at the moment.

Wow an old school Obsidian rpg, first time I've pledged any money to this kickstarter thing. :)

Don't be a buggy mess please with a story that doesn't make sense please :)

Wow, there are some good games now in development thanks to kickstarter that I'm really excited by (this, planetary annihilation, double fine productions, Xenonauts and Carmageddon) and the developers are free from the publishers apron strings. Do you guys think that in say 2 years EA and co will have to start taking notice to their success and start making games like they used to in some massive reverse consolification movement?

Add Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun Returns to that list :) Kickstarter could be the saving grace for me and PC gaming as these days my gaming rig is little more than an uber console!

I've backed two projects: Carmaggedon Reincarnation and Planetary Annhilation.

Think I will give this project a miss as I could never get into heavy D&D games like Baldars Gate, always found there was never enough feedback in fights (some fights you would absolutely own, some you would get owned with little to tell you why) and I hated that healing magic was level 7 or something (thats high) and you could only use it once and had to rest to use it again and no ressurection spells

Now all we need is Volition to get off thier ass and Kickstart Freespace :D

This isn't using D&D rules.

Ok ... slightly Off Topic kickstarter question.

I backed this and it took the details of my WellKnownOnlineStore account for payment.
Obviously there's no mention of this in my WellKnownOnlineStore, as they haven't finished the Kickstarter yet.

I can't remember how the delivery option was handled in the payment phase.

What I'm getting at is... Would I be able to make a second pledge, and gift it to someone else by selecting a different delivery option from my WellKnownOnlineStore account? Is that possible, and would I need to create a 2nd Kickstarter account to do it too?

 I am noob. In so many ways. :(

Delivery Option?? I don't think you have a delivery option because there is nothing to deliver once the kickstarter finishes.

What seems to happen is they send out a questionaire for you to fill in on how you want Digital and Physical Items delivered this can take several months (I am still waiting for Carmaggeddon questionaire)

If you want to do a seperate pledge I think you will need to setup a separate account as once you login in it will recognise your pledge and attempt to increase your pledge not duplicate it if you add more money.

They may update or add new pledges that allow you to gift some rewards to others.

P.S you can say Amazon as long as you don't link or recommend them if it is something OCUK sell.

With the rewards its up to the individual Kickstarter to how they deal with that. They obviously have your details.
