"Pillars of Eternity: RPG funded by Kickstarter"

You can also get the expansion pack if you pledge an extra $20.

I don't think they'll reach 3.5 million but should pass the 3 million required for the stronghold. Really looking forward to this game :)

Glad Ziets is on board (or will be :p), Mask of the Betrayer was brilliant.

"You would have an easier time dismantling Mount Celestia stone by stone. Ritual and circumstance are not easily undone, little bird. And they are rarely accomplished by peace."

Souls will be important in Project Eternity from the lore description so it'll be interesting to see if any more influences from Torment appear.

Really need to get around to playing torment, I bought it a year ago and have never got around to playing it, heard nothing but good things about it though. Haven't played BG for years either and never completed Icewind Dale. I'm going to finish them all in these cold winter months :)

I think I'll up my pledge to $100 to get the boxed copy and expansion pack, need to find out if the manual is decent.

One of the things I like about Obsidian is they're not afraid of being critical of their own work. I recall Avellone saying that Planescape Torment had a little too much text and the opening was not as well paced as it should have been. Also that New Vegas shouldn't be compared to Fallout 1, though I think it's better in several ways personally (combat mechanics aside). Speaking of NV, Sawyer made numerous comments about the incomplete nature of the Legion's inclusion on his Formspring, again alluding to improvements.

When was the last time anyone at Bioware did that? Their games aren't even as good (in terms of being actual RPGs rather than talky cinematic shooters) and they re-hash characters\concepts verbatim.

From George Ziets' formspring:

"do you get the entire .2 mil dedicated to you in the stretch goal? if you do will you get it in singles and swim in it like scrooge mcduck?"

I like the way you think. Forwarding this question to Feargus...

There has also been 80k pledged via paypal so roughly $3,140,000. With only 51 hours to go I don't think we'll make 3.5 million but hey at least we get a proper stronghold :)

Only downside is we'll have to wait two years for it but I'm sure it will be worth it.

That mega dungeon will be something though, probably 10 levels :o

I actually took mine off - they have enough money so don't need mine and if the game is good i'll then buy it - all win :)

Surely when combined with the separate paypal monies it'll meet the $3.5m goal for the second big city, yay! :p

After looking over things more/again, and perhaps the subconscious affect of having dat screenshot (:D) as my desktop these past days, I couldn't resist any longer and so I upgraded my initial $20 pledge to the $65 box version.

Needless to say, I'm really, really looking forward to this :)

Don't be so sure $78,000 needed in the next 15 hours!

Edit: make that $68000 wow that was quick! 10000 in 30 minutes

They've already passed 3.5 million when you count the 100k from paypal although it looks like it'll easily pass 3.5 million on kickstarter alone :)

edit: 3.5 million achieved on kickstarter, I wonder what the final stretch goal will be.

Dammit, don't tell me they're holding back from updating to the last minute so to avoid making a new stretch goal! :p
