Pioneer Kuro - Owners are delirious

Wow, Kuro owners really get you angry don't they? I recall you posting about this ages ago lol

Also, first it was 16 years old.. now 17? lol FYI it's 8...

I don't know why you're getting so angry about this. Just accept that it's a very nice monitor, one that was very highly regarded and nice things (especially ones that had a short production cycle) tend to keep at least some of their value.

What what it's worth, I've had offers above £1k, so clearly I'm not delusional, but thanks.

Also if you buy a 4K gaming monitor you need a monster GPU.

So I'd choose a 1080/1200 monitor instead. Oh no it's worse because it's lower resoultion

LOL

Have you watched 4K content on a 40"-55" tv?

I'd rather watch it on a projector. You do know a high resolution, small screen is pointless?

Like having a 4K mobile phone.

According to that calculator though 1080P is pointless (based on the size of my TV and viewing distance) - apparently anything less than 55" isn't enough, and for 4K I would apparently need a 110" TV.

Except I have bad eyes. So it is pointless.

So you haven't watched 4K content on a 40-55" tv

So how do you know it's pointless? Because someone made a table or graph on the internet?

Science sucks huh

So I take it you have watched 1080P content as well as SD and it wasn't pointless?

I used to believe those tables and graphs too before I actually went and viewed 4K content on a TV. Then I had to believe my eyes.

Exactly - I have Sky, so can swap between SD and HD versions of the same channel easily - even though neither are 1080P native, then the difference is clear to see. Even though "those tables" say my experience should be sub-optimal.

Bearing in mind that article is now nearly 4 years old and we actually have 4K blurays (rather than just poor bitrate 4k streaming). Whilst I haven't yet experience 4K bluray on a 4K screen, I am confident I could easily see the difference vs 1080P bluray on a 1080P screen.

I still pointed out that they are up for sale for:

£400 for the 50" (although a couple recently came up at £250)
£900 - £1K for the 60" (premium cause larger size of the Kuro range)
£150 for the 42" (lower because most don't want just a 42" anymore)

So yeah 1 owner has suggest a sale price that is rather high for a TV that was being sold in 2009 (8 years ago not 16/17 years). Then from then to 2013 they made panels for Panasonic with the same tech. Last build date was December 2013 with sales ending March 2014.

With that, it would be interesting to know if the Kuro for sale had been refurbished/re-gased/calibrated. Although it adds minimal sale cost I could see it selling for £900 if it's the larger 60" (you don't mention size).

Yes it's the 60" panel and I've owned it from new and it's never had a single issue. It's also had pretty low usage too (around 2400 hours.. which works out about an hour a day, since I've owned it).

Plus the sale also includes remote LED back-lighting and a Pioneer stand.. but hey.. what does that matter :o

I'm sorry this makes people angry!

I have had a 4K screen since 2014 and recently bought a 65" LG B6V OLED.

When only factoring in resolution, I can tell you the difference between a 4K UHD and a 1080p Blu-ray is noticable but not massive.

However, factor decent HDR in to the mix and it can be a night and day difference. Though obviously it depends on the movie.

The difference between a modern PC game at 1080p and 3840x2160 is also quite dramatic.

I have a 43" 4K screen and I can tell the difference between UHD streams on amazon and HD ones. I sit approx 6 feet away as I have the tv on a cantilever mount so I pull it away from the wall and bring it closer to my seating position. If I left it in it's frame I would be about aprox 8-9 feet away and I can still tell a difference.

It's pretty clear too the difference night and day with HDR content.

Should have bought a 60"+ 4K screen instead.

Re-gassing plasma is a pile nonsense lol

Not suggesting it isn't however people have paid for it in the past and then expected it to make a difference in the ability to sell it because of such things.

I think it was back in 2009 when people really started to point out it isn't needed.

Thank you fro letting us know what it sells with. I would say based on what you are stating then you are possibly a little higher than other sellers but I guess there is no harm in asking and people making offers.

The stand and backlight honestly will make little difference in cost because you can pick up stands for £30 however I know that the official stands were going for as much as £150 a year ago.

To give an idea there is one 3 miles from me with wall bracket that is selling for £900.

No way would I trust a plasma on a £30 stand LOL

Please find the regassing port in a plasma :D

Did you read what I actually said? People used to send their plasma off to a "TV Specialist" they found online and paid them money. I never stated that it was actually done or true.

Just that people used to pop up on AV Forums back in 2005 and say I have just had my Plasma regassed and it has made a difference. Others pointed out it was rubbish and was never done and maybe if anything the person you sent it to changed the colour settings on the TV and sent it back claiming it was "regassed and calibarated"
