Pipe blew off, what to do? (e39 cooling system)

Everything on this car works as it should I was just coming up with theories as to why it would do that

Exploding coolant hoses are not a design feature.

He wont, no as he has low OBC and basic cassette unit which are not affected by the pixel problem.

no there all fine, interior is in excellent condition there is no signs of wear and tear anywhere on the car ill post up some pics later

I got 6 disc in the boot, is that normal or an optional extra?

Well it was optional I believe, but you'ed have a hard time finding an E39 that doesn't have a changer to be honest.

Unless he wanted a warm car in the morning before he set off..
Either way, 15 mins seems like a long time to heat up. New thermostat perhaps?

I didn't know what that button meant! Learn something new everyday

On later E39s it's the Max button, since they have a slightly different climate control unit and do not have a Rest button. Pressing Max with the engine switched off after it's been running and had a chance to warm up will pull the residual engine heat into the cabin, like the Rest function on the earlier cars, if you turn the ignition to position I you can alter the fan then too.

Yes but he has a prefacelift one, so he has a Rest button not a Max button

Oh I know, I was just filling 'Sukh' in with some more details on the feature. Incase a few people who have E39s that didn't know about this go out and try to use said feature and think, wtf ...I don't have that button

I've been tempted by a cheep e36 a few times and I'm glad I've read these threads, it seems its not such a good idea

I blew the top hose...but viscous fan and thermostat (being stuck closed) were the reason mine did it, have you renewed either of them?

I blew the endcap off my 328, the viscous wasnt working. Does the e39 not have the secondary fan that kicks in?

Hi i knew about the rest heat function from the day i got the car but i rather keep the engine running just incase the battery goes flat and i was 20 miles from home!
