Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (Spoilers)

I personally really enjoyed watching the film, thought it was great and really funny.

However, I am the only one that find's it hard to see why Turner and Swann want to save jack. Aside from Swann's guilt.

Jack Sparrow is a nasty man, he tricked Will into (almost) serving 100 years on the (evil ship) and yet he wants to go and save him?!

I dunno

Great film tho'

Good:

Pretty solid cast
Good action
Great effects
Pretty good plot, certainly being well set up for the next film
Some funny moments

Bad:

Too many attempts to make jokes about rum, which didn't all work
Some of the editing left the plot a bit blurred

Ugly:

The whole film was much darker than the first one. I'm not sure if that was good or bad.

Well I think it comes down to the nature of Captain Jack Sparrow, he has been tricking and manipulating everyone around him for years, it is almost expected that if Jack wants you to do something then you are likely to not benefit from it in the short term (or long term in some cases). However it is also conceivable that as far as Jack is concerned, if you can not get out of the "Little Predicaments" he puts you in then you deserve to be in them. Turner and Swann both have shown on frequent occasions to have the fortitude to overcome Jack's manipulations.

Jack himself made a career out of getting in and out of trouble, take both Movies thus far, the only person capable of besting him into a situation he could not undo was Swann. Every other time he has got caught he has escaped or bartered his freedom.

Also he was incredibly charming and charismatic.

Who was the bloke right at the end who said "What have you done to my ship?"

Captain Barbossa, who was Captain of the Black Pearl in the first film. He was Jack Sparrow's first mate, when Jack was Captain, but when Jack was ousted in a mutiny, Barbossa took over.

Now, I'm not usually attracted to black women...

But, strangely enough, I found myself drawn to the woman in the swamps. I have no idea why, but I found myself staring at her constantly... Of all the people to lust after.. :p

Anyhoo, film was much as I expected. A fill in between the first and third. Thought it was quite good but at times it just seemed to drag and in the end I did just want it to finish. At the start of the film with Jack Sparrow's tribal makeup, with the eyes, that freaked me out. I could never tell when his eyes were open or closed :p

Knew it was going to be Barbosa at the end though... Just had a feeling...

7/10 from me :)

I still don't fully understand what the deal was with the heart though?

The Legend of Davey Jones...

He was in love (be it with the Sea or a Woman!... Both can change from good to bad very quickly) and he had his heart broken, BIG TIME!... So as not to ever feel that way again he made a pact with the devil and cut out his heart and placed in in the chest (locker) which was burried to keep it safe!.

His pennance/Debt to the Devil for this was to captain the Flying Dutchman for at least 100 years and NEVER set foot on dry land!.

If you find the chest you have two options!... Destroy the heart and thus set davey and his crew free (to either die or live!) or keep the heart and you then have controll over the Flying Dutchman (and Davey) and can get him (and his crew) to do your bidding!...

The latter is obviously what the East India Trading Bloke wants!!!..

At least thats what I gathered from the film!... (tried googling but I kept getting POTC links)

Sim :)

Good funny film but i felt at times a touch daft and really lacked any kind of story line other than 'Here have the next film!'. The amount of times people survived death falls (Jack vs a cliff?) was stupid. The cragan (sp) was a bit rubbish, and happened to put all of its tenticles up alongside the cannon ports? Some of the special effects were also very lacking, mainly concercning water shots where they use minutures and it looks total carp.

Also I love the way they tried to introduce Perudo but didnt explain it at all and only played one round. Anybody who doesnt know the game must have been very confused!

I got the impression that with the heart you could control the Kraken?

If you Have the Heart... You Control Davey... Davey Controls the Kaken!... So you then Control the Kraken by default!..

*reads up on Perudo*

Yes I wondered about that but I kind of got the gist of it, not that the intricacies of game play were particularly important I suppose.
