The Legend of Davey Jones...
Cheers for clearing that up, I sort of grasped that when watching the film but I was getting a bit confused and wasn't 100% sure.

I got the impression that with the heart you could control the Kraken?
Yeah I thought this at first too. Well, I would imagine that if you get the heart and take control of the flying dutchman that you can control the kraken too.

The Legend of Davey Jones...

He was in love (be it with the Sea or a Woman!... Both can change from good to bad very quickly) and he had his heart broken, BIG TIME!... So as not to ever feel that way again he made a pact with the devil and cut out his heart and placed in in the chest (locker) which was burried to keep it safe!.

His pennance/Debt to the Devil for this was to captain the Flying Dutchman for at least 100 years and NEVER set foot on dry land!.

If you find the chest you have two options!... Destroy the heart and thus set davey and his crew free (to either die or live!) or keep the heart and you then have controll over the Flying Dutchman (and Davey) and can get him (and his crew) to do your bidding!...

The latter is obviously what the East India Trading Bloke wants!!!..

At least thats what I gathered from the film!... (tried googling but I kept getting POTC links)

Sim :)

Close - I award you a cheap Tesco Value cigar. However:

1) Davey Jones can step on dry land once every decade.
2) You have the heart and you can control Davey Jones - "do what I say or i'll stab yer in the heart... garrrrrr"
3) For comedy value Davey Jones should have been called Darla Jones so she can keep her overies in the chest - "do what I say or i'll stab yer in the ovaries... garrrrr"

I thought it was great entertainment , although a bit long.

There was some great choreography on the water wheel and also when there were three people fighting with two swords.

Shame it couldn't really settle on a mood. At times there were crows pecking eyes out, and slit throats and then madcap chase scenes and bloodless swordfights.
Wasn't impressed by the lack of resolution at the end. This trend for ending films with 'to be continued' is getting tiresome.

I was a little disappointed with this. Some decent comedy moments and Depp was great as always, but the cursed crew storyline was done a hell of a lot better in the first film.

So no one noticed that Davey Jones had the same silver locket/music box as the voodoo lady of the swamps then?

I really enjoyed the film and how Jack Sparrow exited this film... cool as you like. I wonder if there will be sea turtle assistance in his return! ;)

Really didn't like it.. very little of the Jack Sparrow dialogue remained from the first one and that's what I thought made the first movie. Far too much boring action and not enough plot.

Also, seemed far too long, I found myself checking my watch time and again wishing for the end, and when it finally came I let out a big sigh..

Same here.
On top of that he acts too gay instead of acting eccentirc.....4/10

Oh dear. It's called being in 'character'...works wonders when you're 'acting'.

Nah see my edit.

The character was suppose to be eccentric right? but he was acting more gay as oppose to eccentric, That's what im trying to say but my dyslexia got the better of me again! :o

He's meant to be camp..which can easily be seen as being 'gay' i guess..but there is a difference.

hugely disappointed with this, the story line seemed random and extremely weak, don't get me started on the (what i thought was) seemingly impossible worsening of orlando bloom / keira knightleys acting. jonny depp carried this film and was the sole reason i kept watching.

4 / 10

I saw it earlyer and loved it good humor ect.
The only bit I didnt like was the cliffhanger ending I had always thought that 2 and 3 even though they are sequels wernt tied by the same plot ie davey jones blinkin locker.

Halfway through the film I had a gut feeling balbosa was comming back and am looking forward to him being a good guy in the next one(well at least I hope he is)

Cant wait to see Keith Richards as Jacks dad in the 3rd one
