Pirates on the horizon

Its not working for me, I created a user.txt in the c:\Muon1 directory where I installed it but whenever I try and run muon1_background it tells me to create a user.txt

My user.txt just contains the word [OcUK]Biffa

[DOH]fixed it[/DOH]

How long does it take to complete a result, and I take it that it doesnt create a results.txt file until its completed its first one?

This won't speed up your crunching but should produce better results...
// Sample Results Files

What? Sometimes I produce files called this. They contain a selection of results, including many of the best ones, from the current stage of the project. If you add them to your database, Muon1 will be able to use this information to produce better designs.
How do I use the sample file? Decompress it if necessary and either use it to replace your results.dat, or edit your results.dat in WordPad and append the new results (being careful not to merge lines). The latter option will mean Muon1 can use your old results as well as the downloaded ones, so is a better choice.
Why doesn't this file just contain the top 100 results? The very best results at any one time in the project can be quite similar. It is better for the algorithm not to be swamped by repeats of the same good result, which can drown out other possibilities that still need to be explored.

So does this mean every pc could 'cruch' the same algorithm...
and the results file is the only thing stoping the pc cruch the same thing twice...

Or am I completely missing the point and there is an element of downloading new info/wu's for a central server.

lazy question is there a 'what the results mean' type thread or faq?

i cant help unfortuantly, although the proxy settings work, it needs nursing to work properly with the central proxyserver and firewalls, something that is beyond my control!

Found the FAQ and it answered most of my questions and a few I didn't know to ask :D
Might see if I can borg a few here at the office too.

As a side - total score is not the only ranking - best muon percentage is also key - as only the best result counts for the final build :D

D is 11th in the world with his best optermisation - 3.728293%
and I'm 17th (lucky strike) with my best result of 3.707010%
marineiguana takes 46th with a best of 3.458375%

All of us are in the top 50 - OcUK for the win :D
