Pixel Buds/ Google Assistant-powered headphones

Finding more and useful things with my Pixel Buds. Especially with getting around.

By touching the right ear bud I can ask questions like where is the nearest petrol station, where is the nearest Shake Shack or McDonalds, etc. Answers flawlessly.

If I request directions to a particular restaurant, say The Ivy, I get a map and suggested directions on my Pixel 2 XL.

Keeps getting better.

No it doesn't keep getting better, and that's not really a USP either. You can say "ok Google" without having to touch a single thing on any Android phone running Oreo and ask the same thing to get the same output when paired with non pixel bud earphones, because Bluetooth headset voice input is a setting in the Google Voice recognition app.

With Android P, Google is working on some further adjustments and tweaks to the Pixel Buds, according to the APK decompilation.

Currently the only way to be sure the Pixel Buds are completely switched off is to put them back in their recharging case. Two new ways are being introduced: triple tapping the right ear Bud or taking the right Bud off.

Double tapping the earbud now pauses music but soon it is expected to be used to skip to the next track.

Useful.

They're £50 off at the moment on the Play Store, I couldn't resist giving them a go. After just a few minutes playing with them, I would say they are pretty good. I didn't pull enough cord through initially and so sound isolation wasn't great, but now I have that adjusted, they sound pretty good. GA integration seems good, as does the reading allowed notifications and they seem comfortable after my short usage.

I can see the appeal of them. My main negative at the moment is the rather short cord.

So instead of starting a new thread I thought I'd bump this one.

Just got my first set of wireless headphones/ear buds and they are the Pixel Buds 2. Absolutely fantastic.

Love the attention alerts feature.

Currently very good discounts on the UK Google store on the Pros (£136) and A series (£64) if anyone's interested.
