Pixie Lott

yeah ill be honest im not a massive soul kinda guy so maybe that was misplaced of me to compare.
but on a seperate note i dont know why people go on about pop singers vocal power cos exactly like you said they would all fail in comparison.
but on a seperate note once again im fairly sure im ill equipped to comment on pop cos i bloody hate the stuff, so i will emeadiatley compare it to what i consider to be a better form of music (thats not quite coming out right but you now what i mean).
so to iterate i doubt i have much right to comment on pop.

compare her to an opera singer

Why. Why would anyone want to compare Pixie Lott to an opera singer? What a useful comparison.

(as i think of it cos i dont liek the pop voice (my opinion obviously)) is the pop conditioning. i could do without it personally

Why are you in this thread commenting on Pixie Lott if you generally don't like 'the pop voice' anyway?

That was the nicest thing said in this thread so far, and now I feel bad for insulting you (which was intended as a joke anyway as I'm sure you know) ;)

insult away! as to why im commenting i felt like it :D wanted to see what people had to say, my gf likes pixie lott (but she also likes amy drugbinge).
also i think comparing a pop singer to an opera singer is valid, i think they could both learn from each other (opera singers to reduce the 'naffness' of opera as an art and pop singers to learn some real power)
i thought it was really interesting to watch the pop singers to opera singers show, especially that the girl opera tutor has now released an album of poppy covers in an opera voice which is pretty cool (ish)

Tiptop, the thing is, cat power has a 'nice' voice, but not a particularly strong or technical voice. She couldn't put a performance in of 'cry me out' with the same balls any more than nora jones could sing a joss stone song.

I agree Merlin5, and I'm not trying to be mean to you. It's just got me thinking that there are so many other better looking and stronger female vocalists out there that you could have chosen, and when you were shown them you went on the attack lol.

I had a crush on Bjork before I was a teen. Hit me. :D

Power to you for posting your crush whatever age you are, no joke buddy. :)

P.S. Madeleine Peyroux and Regina Spektor are brilliant. ;)
