Places to eat - Glasgow

Is the Lorne good? Never heard of it! How much are mains? Doesn't have a copy of the menu on the website. I haven't confirmed at the Dhabba yet (gotta put down a deposit) so my choice is open to other suggestions. Never been particularly fond of hotel restaurants though, they just seem to 'meh' most of the time (bar the ones at 5* places).

our company have all sorts of links with the lorne. (same owners) rather nice place since its refurb and testeraunt aint half bad

Have you tried Asmaan Ahleckz? Never been myself but heard it raved about many times. It does look crap but keep meaning to check it out.

On Bath Street? Actually never checked that out. Always been empty when I walked past it, and does look crap. Another one to add to the list though!

Edit - Reading some reviews, the service is apparently awful. I can't stand bad service, no matter how good the food is. I'll bear it in mind and maybe suggest it to my curry loving pal if we're in the area (though with Mother India, which I love, so close it might never get my custom...). Don't think I'll risk it for my birthday though. The Dhabba is my favourite curry house in Glasgow, so will stick with that.
It's a bit odd that I haven't been able to find a truly fantastic Indian in Glasgow, there's one or two in Aberdeen (Jewel in the Crown, I'm thinking of you!) but nothing of the same calibre in Glasgow.

Lorne's food = 10/10 for the lamb and 5/10 for the south indian

i think it was the waiters fault though, he knew we were all indian, he should have known to tell the chef to make it "desi" style, rookie mistake.

bar service = 2/10

the place was fully rammed (extremely busy) and they have 1 bar serving a lounge and a restaurant, ideally it should have 2 bars, but it doesn't.

the easy way to solve that would be order another round, as soon as your first one arrives and repeat until finished.

not the place to go to if your looking for a good session, but food wise it was top notch, im a connisseur when it comes to food, especially indian, and the lamb was to die for. lamb is extremely hard to do right in an indian dish, but they nailed it, ive only ever met 3 chefs out of hundreds who made it just as good.

with my family in the restaurant business, i know what im talking about. sure the place has its faults but it has it good points too, nowhere is perfect these days.

prezzo just off buchannan street is amazing for dates, not a place to take the lads.

agree with poster further up

If you like seafood - Gamba is a certainty. Superb food, great service, a little pricey but well worth it. Fantastic place

I found Slouch do monster burger if you have a tenner to spend on a cow roll, not relevant really just thought I'd drop it in there
