Planes, how do they work?

Hello team.

Are planes the worst thing ever? Objectively no but subjectively yes, by which I mean I am not a good flyer. Inconventient given location.

In 2012 as part of a Vietnam trip, I had a very drunken conversation with a guy on a boat just outside Halong Bay who claimed to be a **** Air flight tutor (I forget his actual job title or qualifications) and he was certain that the silver birds in the sky were not designed to kill me.

What's the bridge between engineering and psychology I need to get on with?

When it gets to about 160mph air speed.

I love planes but hate flying as well the whole airport thing, uncomfortable seats, being still for so long. Just makes it horrible.

I haven't flown since the 80s and i am pretty phobic about it now but growing up my neighbour was an air stewardess and took me over to Leeds/Bradford airport (Yeadon in those days i think) and i would sit in the cockpit (not on the flights and it wasn't like the scene out of Airplane movie) also. went to the air shows with my Dad.
we used to fly from Leeds to Jersey quite often, i used to collect those free booklets you got ,not sure if you still get them

I am not good with heights but I love flying. Best bit is looking down out of the window during take-off and landing. The other best bit is the big blue above the top cloud layer. Smooth flying and great visuals.

Love flying more than getting to the holiday itself. I'd have made a good pilot, shame it is so elite as a career, I would never have been able to get the money to train up.

I'm sat in an uncomfortable dingy airport right now. I have no issues with getting on a plane and flying but absolutely hate everything that surrounds it.
