Planet Coaster

I was like this at the start but I just kept on going and I feel like im picking it up. 250 Hours in the game and I am just about managing to get good scenery ratings lol!
To be fair, now I getting better at building buildings, station surrounds and the like, the scenery part just comes with it. I started a small tester park with 4 thrill rides close to the entrance and themed the queues and surrounding areas and got 100% on that rating. the peeps really liked the rides. I carried on playing this certain park but once the guests said there is not enough food or drink etc I was forced to just plonk down the basic blueprints to get the happiness back up with out even thinking of adding scenery and themes and it all looked a little disjointed. I might just start 'again' and have the park closed but try a different method, maybe terraform the whole map so it's not flat all over, keep the plateaus around the edges but add a hill or two, river and lake maybe and work it around that.

I think I am trying too hard to make parks and rides look like the ones you see on youtube. Sliverette springs to mind. I know I will never be that good so I have to stop trying to be like those guys. I went to Gullivers Kingdom in matlock Bath yesterday for the first time ever. Took my wife and 2.5 year old He loved it and the rides as he was over 90cm he went on pretty much everything apart from the switchback coaster. and the drop tower. This has given me a little inspiration on a new park considering I have never been to a theme park since Air was under construction at Alton Towers (I went to Blackpool a few years back but that's nothing like a theme park).

Making progress now. Having getting used to the tools we have in the game to make stuff I have now set my sights on this park.

Three Pines.

Three Pine trees that are protected by the local council are the main focal point of the park entrance (still have a little work to do on the 3 trees and surrounding area). The park name is taken from the protected trees.:)

The park entrance is not a grand design but a nice quaint and picturesque example of welcomeness :p. There are flower beds to ease the nervousness of some park guests, due to some of the rides that they could encounter. A small man made water fall on the left is lit up during the darker hours, a bit like a secret cave :). The building itself is also lit up at night and is quite colourful.

I have left the bigger archway open so when the guests walk towards the park they can see the Big wheel in the far distance. A bit of a focal point for the park. The ride is just there for design purposes to help me with view points etc. It will be heavily themed and built around, under etc once park design is underway.

The building itself is not entirely finished, I still would like to add some detail and change a few things like the modern windows, I sort of changed my mind as I was building it.

Not too bad for nearly 4 hours work at 12:30 am this morning (start time, as I just got back from work)

So without further ado, here are some pictures.

^^ Nice work Sir!

This is a WIP of my park that will have themed areas.

Park Entrance

Kids Zone on the left, Western area on the right, Sci-Fi going at the back. Food zone is going to be in the middle going round the water.

thanks. I am glad I have finally started to make something worthwhile. Still some tweaking to do on the building and the fenced off 'Three Pines' bit but once that is done I will make some progress on the main street and whatnot,:)

Originally I was having some performance issues with a full park etc (3000 guests) and a completed park. Think I was hitting about 22 FPS. However a followed a few tips online and dropped to borderless mode and tweeked a few graphics. I also dropped maximum guests to 1500.

The biggest issue for me was the amount of scenery. I deleted the majority of it all and went for quality over quantity and to be honest it took longer but looks much better. Im averaging about 40fps now. Not great but much much better.

Playing at 1080p BTW.

Loving your munsters track.

Thanks, yeah fps is very low in this game im on about 30fps but i have a lot more peeps in the park about 5000 at present, while im aware this is an issue i really think with a bigger park you need the guests to make it look authentic.

Seems the game is either in need of some mega hardware or tweaks as you say. Seems a shame as the game looks great.

The Munsters track is cool and i did the hidden achievement for it yesterday where you call the ride "BOLLARD" and then ride a kart first person view, and if you win the race you get the achievement :) keys - wasd - its fun

i have all achievements except 1 which is to get all the stars in the scenarios, im working on it slowly :)

I also found out if i set the ride prices to about 37.84% of the prestige then i can make monies much easier :) (prestige level / 37.84)

Can anyone comment on performance for Planet Coaster on a GTX 970 at 1440p?

I see that it's down to £16.49 on Steam at the moment, and I'm definitely tempted! :)

Depends more on your cpu. My 1080ti doesn't stop it chugging away with lots of people in the park. I have stopped playing as a result.

That is disappointing :( It's been out for a while now, it's a shame they've not been able to sort out the issues :(

Classic Frontier really :(

I only have an i7 4770k and it really chugs as soon as you get close to 2000 people (basically a tiny park). Even with the latest cpus it seems no more than 5000 people is possible. A real shame. It is a shame they couldn't have used the gpu more. I still look toward to Jurassic park though. Might have upgraded by then. Not that there seems to be much need for any other game.
