Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

Awesome work.

I was targeting sub 30 for a 5k this year as I slowly get back to things and a few times I’ve backed off as I was getting close but had spent a hefty amount of time downhill and didn’t want me first time to be tainted.

Never been particularly quick and I think my best is 24ish but nice to feel some fitness reemerging. Going to get the Traka (long bike ride) out the way and try and focus on running a little more.

Any runners training for Hyrox in here? Fell in love with the sport few years back and haven't really looked back since. No major injuries, decent volume (~50km) with strength layered on top made me fitter than most people in my local gym.

Ran my Half this weekend. I was training for a sub 1.45 but did a 1.46.04.

Slightly annoying but I genuinely dont think I could have gone faster on the day. The weather wasn't great and they did a new route this year where it felt like they were spamming inclines .

Still a 5 min PB though which is great.

Think I'm going to try go sub 45 in the 10k next month and see if I can sub 20 5k this summer for the first time in 15 years.

Lost some weight so I'm down to 97KGs and its much easier to run at this weight!

Bad day at the office for the Alloa Half Marathon yesterday, really caught out by the rolling nature of the course and went out waaaaaay to fast blowing myself up. Limped home for a 1:34:01 which is still a significant PB but I wanted to be in contention for a 1:30. Not as fit as I think I am!

Great work.

I’ve got a friend doing the David Goggins 4x4x48 challenger and said I’d do 2 runs with her. Questioning if I’ve overestimated my fitness.

~20km to hers on the bike
Run 4 miles at midnight
~3 hours on the bike
Meet for her next 4 mile run at 4am
~20km bike home
