PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

Has 1.0 fixed the relative inability to fire out of some windows? Was playing few days ago, me trying to snipe a guy from 2nd floor window. His far away position put him perfectly in the middle window bar. Crouching made me shoot the window sill. ARrrrg

I don't think that'll be 'fixed' as it's not broken - the bar is doing its job of stopping the round.

Try leaning or climbing onto the interior furniture?

I moved about all I could, he just happened to be at the perfect range to be blocked no matter what I tried. I think it was more the way you can't tell your shot is hitting it as your crosshair isn't blocked by it that annoyed me.

yea I tend not to even try and shoot through the bars anymore. too much of a pain!

I think it's unintentional to be fair. The building assets are actually purchased from the Unreal Engine asset store, not made by the game developers. This means window bars were not added to suit the game play, but rather they were there before the game play was established. Through unfortunate coincidence, the muzzle height when shooting guns matches the location of the window bar, making shooting incredibly difficult. In real life, you would lower or raise your weapon an inch or so, but this isn't possible in PUBG.

The fact that your optic isn't seeing the bar is correct if you think about the difference in height between the optic and barrel, but if you're not used to that sort of thing in a shooter, then I agree it would be annoying.

So they just bought those buildings and whacked them in? I had no idea!

I can't think of a game you can do that sort of micro adjustment with your weapon in, except for maybe VR titles? Arma lets you do varying degrees of standing, crouching and prone rather than just those three as in PUBG, but not sure of any others. I assume it would just be too damn complicated in terms of key binds in an arcadey-type game as PUBG?

Yeah, they're essentially licensed models bought from a store front - it demonstrates both the strength and downfall of developing within Unreal Engine simultaneously :D

The sensible thing to do would be to pay an amount to buy the assets out-right and remove the bars, or even contract the original creator to do so. Money isn't an issue for Bluehole, but as far as project management goes, they are absolutely woeful.

I killed somebody through the bars the other day (shooting into a house) I had to fire off the full 30 rounds to get the kill and the majority of those bullets hit the bars or were blocked through the window. Was a risky one but it worked. It's not a good "feature" though, bars on windows.

Loads of glitches being found already with the vaulting/climbing situation. Inside buildings and being able to see thru the roof etc. Check Shroud latest video to see a few.

There is absolutely definitely 100% not loads of bugs being found. There are certainly bugs being found (hence testing on test servers), which everyone expected. However the response to vaulting so far seems to be overwhelmingly positive, with many saying they're surprised at how well it has been implemented.

Shroud's bug discovery is nothing new and happens in the game due to the camera and how it interacts with assets in the game world. Nothing to do with vaulting, and happens already in other places of the map. It also happened on spawn island.
