I get that, but it's still time and resources spent on something that isn't all that important, it's a cash grab.
Benefitted from microsoft's information on optimisations? I honestly couldn't disagree more, the first part of your statement is 100% correct though, they got silly money thrown at them. Xbox exclusive titles are dire in comparison to ps4, so they saw this as a way to potentially regain some market share.
UE engine is very powerful and not all that complex in comparison to many engines available, they had a massive influx of cash, they should have got some proper project leads in to fix much of this. It's not a complex game, it doesnt have many of the challenges that are facing developers, there is no excuse for it being in the sorry state that it is.
And DG I do understand game development thanks, it's still company resources being used and integrated in the game, it all comes back to this being poorly managed.
The odd lag/cheat free game thats fun doesn't make up the hours wasted being hacked or teleported away from a gun or putting 5 shotgun rounds into someones face only to be panned from across the room...etc...
