PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

I assume the skill level of the PUBG population is a bell curve. Does anyone know where the peak of the curve is, the average player? I ask as myself and someone I regularly duo with have been trying to map the career top %X stat to skill level (obviously from the last season, not the one just started). We don't feel we're that great, but our ratings seem pretty good and that strikes us as odd. We're not campers either, we hunt down fights where ever possible, so our rating is definitely representative of our skill level, we just don't know how that equates to the wider population.

standard odd player now and again doesnt come anywhere 1200-1400. 1500-1700 most players. 17-1900 higher mid. 2000+ doing well most games top ten a game. 2100+ you really need to get top 10 minimum everygame to get anywhere. EU is highest skillwise server then NA. asia oc and the others are terrible skill wise but...good for looting BP and fun.

great games tonight on ocuk discord worked well even though the circle or even the plane just screwed us from the off . 2nd game chicken dinner all played well.enjoyed the games.loved at the end and it always feels good when you know the last person may knock you but you do a michael jordan fadeaway nade and it kills for the win. :D

new war mode on Miramar is a bit ewww. certainly not as fun as the first offering. all high level weps so you're pretty much 1 shotted every time even with lvl 3 gear.

oh and bleed out is almost insta

Ratings go up if you play a lot, so skill and rating aren't really that highly linked as some bad player playing a lot will have a higher rating than the really good player who only has a couple of games.

Mini rant on the update that was pushed to live.

What is the point in a test server, if the iteration we test gets changed before it gets pushed to live?!? It’s not even trivial stuff like graffiti, its changes to weapons and attachments without any notification. E.g. AKM buffed majorly on test and then changed again on the live patch. The grips were also altered quite a bit from the test server. All with no info, not even a "guys we tweaked the grips a bit on the patch we pushed to live".

Now this isn’t about me disliking change or weapons being different/harder to use etc (in fact I really enjoyed the weapon rebalance) It’s the lack of transparency on major gameplay changes. Same goes for the circle change fail. Instead we have to rely on dedicated community members to datamine and make pseudo-patch notes videos. It’s not like we can even test properly in a shooting range either.

Anyone else feel similarly or just not bothered?

Worth mentioning is that everything got a big nerf and the M416 base spray pattern also took a big hit from test 1.0 #12 to live 1.0 #12.

Completely agree.

They changed the Miramar map a lot between builds without any testing too.

I thought the whole point of the test server was to actually test stuff before they pushed it to live!?

Edit: the new patch AK looks insanely bad for vertical recoil!

AK is awful on new live server - the vertical recoil is ridiculous. Lots of buildings (mainly large warehouses) have disappeared from the Mirimar map.

Miramar has changed a lot. new buildings everywhere but towns have been changed aswell. my fav place to drop for example monte they removed the garage and open one.i know why it was unbalanced.by that you droped there and two next to each other and the other building across the road made you get better loot in one minute than big places like military without the risk.

some of the changes werent on the test server but i do like them.as you drive round you can see the differences almost new map.also places that werent worth stopping now are.so overall decent changes and the patch is great .

New patch is awesome... I'm liking the changes as well to mirimar... our loot run has got better... and I understand why some buildings have been removed... others have bulked out other areas too, its all good. Grabbed a sweet dinner yesterday in duos as well... it was 1st game we grabbed one of the new motors too.

Agreed, I'm fine with them mixing up the map itself. Changes it up a bit, and it just becomes "oh this building isn't there anymore" or "that's different". Additionally, if you don't play the test server then the new vehicle etc will be fun to play with.

My beef, as above, is with the way they have handled the weapon and grip changes. They explicitly say in the patch notes that got pushed to test:
Weapon balance in particular is really important for us, and we want to take the time to get it right. For this reason, we’re going to keep the changes on the test server for longer than we normally would.
And the only notable grip updates (after the initial update 12 notes) are:
  • Fixed a typo of in-game tooltip for several grip attachments
  • We’ve added better in-game descriptions for all of the new grips and attachments. See updated descriptions in the patch notes below

When realistically, they may as well have said:
"You know all the grips we added and the changes to AR's that you've just spent a week testing? Yeah just forget all that, we've made a load of changes and pushed it live, go work it out for yourselves"

The AK may have quite high vertical recoil. But its horizontal recoil is so much lower than in the past. Vertical is much easier to control so its definately worth using.

Tommy gun is a monster now though.

I still think they've needlessly complicated the loot table.

Absolutely no need for 7 different grips, 2 was fine.

AR mags and suppressors now fitting DMRs except SLR.

Removing extended quick draw sniper mag to crate only (also fits DMRs).

I'm not getting how it helps balance guns it just makes things overly complicated.

This is exactly how I feel, I'm not sure why there needs to be so many grips! The 3x scope just needs to be dropped, it's awful and I'll never use it again. Quite like the 6x mind but my biggest issue is that the servers feel like a lag fest again with very questionable bullet registration, but I accept that could be gun re-balancing making it seem worse than it is.

Not sure I'm understanding the direction they're going it with so much customisation.

Tommy is a bit hopeless at anything above 30 m or so sadly. Its brilliant for house clearing.

Ditto to all.
