PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

Has this game died yet?

I purchased it when it dropped to £18, wish I had never bothered.

Devs are a bunch of charlatans.

if you play it like many here do its a brilliant game. nothing better. the only real issue is like now when you have a bad week of cheats. that is frustrating. doesnt happen too often when its this bad. they will patch the game and it dies down again. or enough to make it not destroy the fun of playing.

the devs actually do a lot for pubg. nothing can touch it in this style of gameplay. thats why its so popular .

i just checked you played a total of 2.2 hrs...:p

Re-installed about 10 days ago after a good 6+ month break. Maybe longer. After having to follow a bunch of fixes for frame rate stuttering, I finally got it running quite decent. Then boom, last weeks patch. ******* horrific. Down to 30-40 fps across the board. Every map. Basically unplayable. Cheaters out in force too. Uninstalled again. Devs are an embarrassment. Absolute gold mine of an idea executed by a bunch of clueless Korean devs.

1200 Hours played and I still love it! I literally play it for 4 hours everyday. No game is the same and its what ever you make it , You can camp or you can go in guns blazing. Won 2 games last night in Squad and come close to winning 2 others... Good to see the Ex OC discord picking up with new talent.

it is still a very addictive game. problem for me though is that when you go and play something else and come back to pubg you realise how utterly clunky it is. press F to pick up.....yea ok, i don't mind waiting a few seconds for that to happen, especially when there's some other sod with a locked and loaded ak bearing down :p press F to open a door.....let me just go read the forums for a few minutes while it decides if it actually wants to do that, doesn't happen like that all the time of course but when it does.......ahhhhhhhhhhhh........and the sound, despite others protestations that it is fine, is far to random. 1 game you can hear footsteps without issue, next game some turdbaby walks into the building your in and right up behind you before you hear a damn thing. that's nothing to do with audio setup, that's on the game.

but for all it's flaws and lets be honest there are quite a few, it is still by far and away the most exciting game out there. heart rate still goes through the roof when you get to that final circle with only 2 or 3 players left. still jump out of my seat when some bush wookie takes a pop with a kar98. nothing comes close to that level of excitement. Apex, Fartnite, RoE and all the other BR type games are fun (apart from Fartnite, it's gash!) but that's all they are, a bit of fun. PUPG is addictive and adrenaline inducing with a touch of rage thrown in for good measure

if they would only fix the 'little' things........but they aren't (or probably can't) going to now so it's a case of accepting it or moving on. but much like a crack addict, moving on can be difficult :p

Thats the current **** poor state of PC gaming. When a clunky POS game like pubg is the best we have and the only thing we are playing..

well that is very true. what is so annoying is that pubg could be so much more. but as is symptomatic of the gaming market, because it's still coining it in there's no interest in improving it, other than aesthetically. and when it stops coining it in, instead of trying to improve it to draw players back it will be dropped like a hot potato. sad really.

tbh its been really good up until the stuttering lag started. never had it like that in 2 years of playing it daily. all games have issues.

yea it was actually running pretty much smooth as could be recently but then boom, slide show. it is what it is. as i said, you either accept it or move on.

That pretty much sums the game up for me. I've only played a handful of other games for a couple of hours in the last 2 years, I can't stop playing PUBG even though I'm really bad at it. Great game, just a long way from perfect.
i've tried to intentionally force myself to play other games recently, mainly Apex and a bit of The Witcher 3. but always there in the back of my mind is that little voice, quietly whispering 'play pubg, play pubg' :p

Some people have been saying the recent stuttering is due to a new Windows update, roll back apparently sorts it.

Personally haven't had any stuttering issues for a while.

Yeah if I was in half decent form we would have mate x)

I have had windows updates turned off for a while now and still get it.

I must admit there are still problems with items loading in! 12ms Ping so not my internet , only started to happen since the new update having to wait for guns to load in kinda sucks when your on a Hot Drop , must admit had a few stutter problems as well with 60 FPS dropping randomly to 40 FPS and then back to 60 again. prob to do with the dynamic weather effects.

it is still a very addictive game.

Spot on post.

Despite all its faults (window clipping!!! Grrrr!!!!!), it is almost impossible for me to try and play any other game of any other kind of genre. I can't do it. I might play a little flight sim to relax and that has its place if I don't have the concentration for a night of PUBG, or a bit of GR: Wildlands for some silly fun every now and again, but I can't tear myself away from PUBG.

It is INSANELY addictive, just like crack, the lows can be really low but the highs can be incredible! I haven't played a game that has made me feel like it for years. Playing BF just feels robotic and dull, there is no planning, no scheming, no debating tactics with team mates, no value on your electronic life because you know you can re-spawn in 2 seconds, et al.
