PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

Play a different region if timing doesnt work?

Having map selection has been great for me and my guys, couple games o ftaego, maybe an erangel, quick join for a couple, back to taego.

Come across cheaters still, the auto aim ones are a pain, but me and my guys destroyed a team of wallhackers last night.

Still the most enjoyable and tense game across them all.

Does anyone know what the player counts are like? Particularly if you exclude Asia?

The US servers are dead most of the time, last time I tried to play ranked the timer got to 15 minutes before I gave up.

Played duos and I think there was maybe 8 real players and we won.

The group I have been playing with for literally years, are starting to slowly drift, people are playing less and less, and include myself in that, since about Feb I've barely logged in.

It feels..... Like this is the beginning of the end, but maybe the numbers say otherwise?

Me and my wife used to play PUBG every evening with the same group of players, we haven't played for about a year now and only ever message on Discord occasionally, we just fell out of love with the game, the group was amazing, plenty of banter, some disagreements but all was sorted by the end of the sessions, sometimes I do wish we still had those evening games :(

PUBG has come a very long way but it's seemed to have lost the spark with so many players around the globe, I see a lot of people moving over to other titles now

My wife and I were also in the same situation; I think the problem is the devs lost sight of what made it so good, and it started to feel like battlepass/marketing tie in overload, rather than what it was earlier on.
The fact they never really got a handle on the cheating also didn't help.

It's still a fun game, I consider popping on now and then, but its lost a lot of what made it so special in the early days; and sometimes fixing the 'jank' took away what actually made it a unique and sometimes unexpectedly hilarious experience. (Vehicles that had a 10% chance to jump 30 foot into the air anyone)...

We and several other people we know who used to play moved over to Helldivers 2, and have never really come back. I appreciate not the same sort of game, but the devs there also understand (sometimes) the power of random in game moments and working together as a team.

Yup agree on this.

I mean white labelled PUBG partner accounts being sold to Chinese hackers etc ....

They never really wanted to stop it there was big money in cheating.
Yep, and tie in how many band and other ties ins and how much cash shop skins and stuff are pushed in your face as soon as you log in, it just feels a massive step away from what made it feels so special when it first released.
I do miss what it was like back then; of course it wasn't perfect and had a lot of issues, but it captured lightning in a bottle in the way it just has failed to do so now for years, the first few years of release were ultimately by far the best and more memorable; and they didn't have the cash shop and battle passes shoved in your face as much either coincidentally.

It's a shame, as they had something special...

It still has its moments though. I was playing with two German guys in random squads and we won a great match on Miramar in my last match. We commanded a settlement in the centre and took down multiple teams as they invaded in the closing circles and I revived them both twice. Then at the very end I was knocked and one of the German guys clutched a 1 V 2 at the very end to get the dinner.

Absolute scenes.
