PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

My rig (per sig) is getting a bit long in the tooth. CPU load in PUBG is very high even if I try offloading more to the GPU. Toying with an CPU/MOBO/RAM/SSD upgrade (despite the insane prices currently) - what CPU are you lot running - anyone using a 7800X3D for 1440p?

Rebuilt earlier this year with a 265k and 5070 so I can make the most of my 320hz display.
Its not disappointed so far.

Thanks. I got a 280Hz OLED earlier this year so yeah would me nice to max it / make the most of it. GPU will have to wait for now. Main issue is the CPU load as in PUBG it seems to micro stutter when in fights which with PUBG's time to kill makes it very difficult. I've tried everything including capping frame limit in Nvidia CP (with Gsync and vsync enabled) and in-game but nothing seems to make a difference.

Weird, no micro stutters here either. Quite a few changes in the recent update.

Still love PUBG but definitely tempted to give Wardogs a try.

Micro stutters is one issue but the game just feels sluggish to me despite decent frame rates. For one period of a month or so it ran super smooth like a different game - to the point where I was like ah this is the version of the game I see streamers playing. Its hard to explain but everything just seems to take a few extra ms to complete, recoil seems worse and it just makes you feel handicapped. CPU usage is 90%+ in DX11E (110-115% when I first load up), its lower in D11 but fps drops quite a bit.

Performance since this last big update has tanked for me.
I play at 1440p and lock it to 120fps which it very rarely dipped below but I'm seeing single digit fps frame stutters since this last update and its pretty shoddy.

The really bad drops always seem to happen at the worst moments as well which makes them extra maddening.

the latest update the big one did bring issues with performance. was better last night though. was a smaller update too.

for pubg you want a really fast cpu ideally makes a big difference. hopefully they change the stupid map rotation. knocking it down to only 3 maps with often only one good map is annoying.

I haven't played since April although I might start playing it again my lot are always bugging me to play.

As of performance this game is so terribly optimised, you need to throw a CPU at it the devs would have jizzed in their pants over when the game was made. ridiculous really.

Even with a 9950x3d/4090 that can do over 700 FPS, this game still runs like ass with stutters and poor 1% lows.

Ive tried every single fix from RTSS frame pacing, gsync, drivers, you name it, it was fine up until the june patch, but its been getting worse with recent updates.

Both my sons PC's are getting the same, 9800x3d/9070xt and 14700k/4070.

It's just pubg, every other game which are way more demanding runs perfectly.

So basically you can throw a top tier CPU at it and still its a lottery if your component combination works. It amazes me how all the streamers seem to have a perfectly smooth game (even though a lot of the US ones play on EU servers now with 100ms latency) and super audio. It's almost like they have a special streamer install of PUBG or secret setting we don't know about.

I only just found the Solo Deathmatch option. A lot of fun - especially the Erangel School map as its like a super crazy hot drop. Seems to be the first to 29-30 kills typically wins unless the timer runs out.

mines always ran like butter since i played it ! only time it does is odd times when there is a dodgy update. also dont have overlays on which can cause stuttering or issues.

has anyone had any stability issues recently with pubg.. im sure its only since the latest major update. randomly in a match the screen goes black with the message windows is restarting or something like that its gone by the time i get my phone out.

Ive been playing wardogs without issue its just pubg

PC details, Intel Ultra 7 265k, AMD RX9700 , 32GB RAM, MSI PRO B860

just updating to the latest adrenaline driver released yesterday to see if that makes a difference.

Ive been playing wardogs without issue.

Just do that.

I've been playing Wardogs makes you realise how terribly optimised it is, not only that but how badly at times they seem to **** things up just like the issue you are having.

I've had all sorts of stuff like that over the years where a months or two later it magically goes away again.......

Wardogs is early access, let alone 8 years of time to polish, and it runs much better.

I just CBA with PUBG anymore I really cant, as much as I love it the BS gets to you.

Not seen that issue on old or new pc. Wasn’t there a similar issue in the past which could be alleviated by shutting the 2nd tslgame process after launching (the one running at a much smaller file size)?

Just built a new 9850X3D PC and wow the difference over my old 8700k. FPS at 1440p is 400+ and often goes up to 600. Even with identical graphics settings / the same monitor it looks so much better.
