Last week at the Games Convention in Liepzig, Sony announced a wireless keyboard, designed to attach to the top of the Dual Shock 3 or Sixaxis controllers. The keyboard is a full QWERTY keyboard, designed wit both ease of use and functionality in mind. Now, courtesy of *****.com, we have a price and ball park release date for the add-on. Sony's keypad will hit shelves this November 30 for $49.99, available just in time for the holiday season.

LOL that thing looks ridiculous!

Indeed. It looks too much effort to move your fingers to the keys. It doesn't seem to cover any buttons etc so not too bad, but I can't understand how anyone would play a game with this attached, or the 360 one as well (I tried that one and it feels awkward in game).

I have a wireless keyboard anyway, but I seldom use it to be honest, and most messages that are short type very quickly on the ps3 due to the excellent d-pad and the predictive text input. Maybe they will sell a lot of these when Home comes out for people to type messages?

Looks terrible and most likely wont be easy to use as you have to rech over the controller to type stuff. They should have down it like the 360 pad where the keyboard is below the controller.

Its just all wrong ergonomics wise! Surely your going to be knocking on the controller buttons with the bottom of your hand as you type? Logitech bluetooth set for me rather than this ill thought out gimmick

Looks OK, in fairness they've done their best to retrofit the appalling and outdated PlayStation controller layout.

It doesnt have to sit on the controller though, it can be used as a seperate Bluetooth keyboard for the PS3/mobile phones etc. I like the way the keyboard can be used as a touch pad though, quite nifty but i doubt it will be very comfy sitting on top the controller.

Does it? If it works standalone (over bluetooth) then it is quite good, but it isn't shaped to be used on it's own either.

I may have actually read something regarding plugging in the USB to the controller or console, to pair it, but I didn't realise it works wirelessly, after the pairing (thought it was to "link" it to a specific controller etc).

It is unclear from pictures if the keypad connects to the USB port whilst in use or not.

Should have copied the 360 chatpad, on the bottom would have worked much better, they could have used a little cable going into the mini-USB port or something.

The actual device has its own battery and is charged via USB, it also is synced independently. They have stated than it is wireless and can be used with any BT device that can use a keypad, think it also has a port so a mouse can be connected.

amazing i might buy 2

I don't like it, MS have it right with the addon sitting at the bottom, For the thumbs.

I bought a messenger pad as soon as i saw them, And it's an absolute godsend when it comes to playing FF11 on 360.

I really think that addon is going to be hand cramp city.

I honestly didn't think it was possible, but they have managed to create something worse than Microsoft's awful attempt at a "keyboard" with the 360 keyboard/controller
