I've never had a higher tier than basic PS Essential - is there a way to take advantage of these deals and stack an extra year on top of what I already have ? ( think my sub runs out late January ). Looks like these BF deals only let you upgrade to a higher tier at a reduced rate, or offer a discount for new subscribers - which I'm not.

I sometimes like playing the games streamed on my lunchbreak at work. Works very well.
Guess I'm screwed for now, my Extra expires on the day the sale ends and I don't want to move up a tier because what I currently have has been barely worth it for quite a while and there'll be no way to downgrade in a year other than waiting till it runs out.

I forgot its best to get cheap gift cards elsewhere and then buy the sub, so will go for extra which will work out at around £65.

You've already nailed it. There's no deal here for people already subscribed or just want to stay on whichever current tier they are on. You'll have to wait until the few online stores that do offer PS subs at a reduced rate during this time of year (and also during Days of Play) and get it from there instead. I'm also only wanting to continue the base Essential tier so will wait.
Yup, did the same and topped up the wallet with cheap cards a while ago, worked out quite a bit cheaper.
EDIT: Oh, and the purchase has tipped my point balance over the amount required for wallet fund exchange so a pretty decent deal overall and I still have some funds left from the top-up anyways

Can't recall if it was last year or maybe the year before too but couple of weeks after BF there were better PS+ deals availablr, and I recall there being similar at Xmas time.
Have you guys tried to extend, though? It let me buy Extra for 25% off even though I'm still subscribed till 2.12 and I got the option to upgrade for 30% off but the discount was only for the remaining few days (LMAO).
