***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

Amazon delivery upsets me, I have Amazon Prime for the free next day delivery. I always get my deliveries sent to my office so someone is always there to sign for it but they insist upon using HDNL for my deliveries and we're obviously at the end of the delivery run as we NEVER get the delivery before 6pm.

The toaster I got the other day was a different courier and it was here by 11. I've also had stuff from HDNL. Please Please Please be the first company. Or Parcel Farce, Or City Link, or DPD, or basically anyone but HDNL. All the other drivers for this area are brilliant.

EDIT: An advert for the 3G unit was spotted in a magazine and it said that to get Wipeout you had to top up £15 instead of the £5 we were told previously. THIS IS A TYPO and ha been confirmed as such by Vodafone. Do not panic.

also i see tethering to an iphone works? does this require a 3g vita or is it just a wifi setting and will be do-able on both?

Tethering to any mobile device does indeed just need the WiFi model.

I see. Anything available for the PSV similarly to the previous PSP ?

You mean like the sock thing they came with? Yes in the rest of the world, nobody seems to be selling anything exactly like that here though. Lots of soft and hard pouches though.

I've gone for the VIP case which is hard.

And I picked up a little headphone pouch to put my carts in so that they don't slide around in the case.

The London Vita Room opened up today on 80 Oxford Street for anyone interested. You get to play without a saleman standing over you so you can relax in a sofa and play I think 13 games.

The Uncharted: Golden Abyss TV commercial was also shown today.

who ever has ordered from play did you have to call them for some security checks?

I've not ordered from them for this, but I have in the past and that's normal. They do them sometimes with large value orders. It might be the first time or it might be random. Can't remember now.

Also a Unit 13 demo will be on the US store next week. Hopefully that same will be true for us!

Not announced yet. The games go live on the store the midnight of release day, just in time to download for the morning.

Well prices in the US were announced a few days in advance of the First Edition bundle that was released on the 15th. Maybe we'll find out on Monday.

All of the Sony and Ubisoft titles are 10% off the RRP. Can't remember the rest as not all are up there yet, however I seem to remember seeing Fifa was full price.

As soon as I see anything I'll be posting it here so have no fear!

Nearly at the finish now, only days away. :D So looking forward to getting it. In my mind there are some good games to choose from, just need to slow down and not buy too many :D

Roll on Wednesday.

I agree. I'm really looking forward to Wednesday and hoping that it doesn't arrive at 5pm!

Amazon still haven't cancelled Rayman and Lumines for £6 each that I ordered months ago. I wonder if they will now!

For those asking about advertising a while back. The full Vita ad was spotted during the Sunderland v Arsenal FA cup game yesterday.

Here is one of the US adverts showing off Cross Platform play with save transferring in MLB12 which is due at the start of March.

Have to say I prefer the EU adverts!

Also regarding NEAR. People with the 3G model have found that even with WiFi/3G off it still works. Your GPS position is tracked periodically throughout the day and is stored, the next time you connect to the internet in some way it uploads and downloads the relevant data.

Also, back to pricing, the majority of people will be paying the RRP.

I just don't understand how. The RRP is £230 for the WiFi alone. Amazon for one are selling the Wifi, and 8GB card and Rayman for £5 less than that £230 RRP. A collection that before these sales you would have had to pay about £300 for. I think every major retailer is not selling this at the RRP. With Tescos, Morrisons and Asda all chipping in too.

I totally understand your initial impressions and they were good and clear and very unbiased which is great. It seems that the only major issue you have with the device is the price which is fine. In time it will drop in price and by that time there will be lots of games out for it and I hope you jump aboard.

What I will contest however is that it is worth £150 in current markets but then I would, I'm mildly interested in it ;)

At this point, the Vita is being aimed at hardcore tech's, people who need gadgets and who want roper controls and fidelity in games in a handheld system. Those same people are, for the most part, the same people who will pay £500 for an iPad or a smartphone or any number of other things. In time it'll drop in price to a more consumer friendly price point.

Now, could we all stop bickering. This is not a fanboy thread, just a thread for people who are interested in the device. It was not made for smartphone comparisons and the like.

On a different note. Silent Hill: Book of Memroies, the Vita exclusive has just been rated M by the ESRB. The game comes out in the US on March 27th.

Physical shops? All are selling at RRP.

Which physical shops though? Game and Gamestation were supposed to have just added some in store bundles albeit not as good as online, Toys r us are doing the WiFi at £210, Asda have their deal. Morrisons have an incredible bundle for £250 in store and online, I don't know if Tesco have one in store yet.

I got two of the Hori ones. I'm typically very good with my hardware however using screen protectors doesn't bother me and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I'm at work today with absolutely nothing to do (you have no idea) so if any updates come up about anything for Wednesday I'll be pounching like a... Well a pouncy thing.

This week in the US they are getting the full versions of Plants vs Zombies and Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, Unit 13 Demo, Fifa demo, as well as the Twitter, foursquare, Netflix apps.

Hopefully we will be the same!

Asda have some good game prices using a code

These are the prices when the BATTLE10 code is used.

Good find!

Well my Amazon order has gone to despatching soon :D Its getting close yey!

Mine is still marked as not yet dispatched :(

I also just submitted the price of the VIP case from Zavvi to Amazon. Lets see if they change theirs :D

A-Men is a new launch title for the Vita. Previously known as something else (can't remember). Taking us to 28 launch day titles with 2 more that the US is getting as well (they are not getting Motorstorm RC yet. No release day.). These colours and art should really pop on the screen!

True gaming is reborn on the PlayStation Vita with the launch of A-Men, a riddle within a retro game that will satisfy your cravings for tactical play. With more than a hint of the old school style of logic, platforms and creatures, we think our new, highly addictive title is an unexpected launch in a market dominated by pump-action big titles. Created by Bloober Team and honourably inspired by retro-cult classics Lemmings and Lost Vikings, the game gives you control of up to five army characters, each with their own personalities, skills and tools, whose mission is to round up their equally endearing enemies across a series of worlds and puzzles. Highly tactical and completely addictive, the game is immediately easy to play and yet, like many classic games, it is hard to truly master. You’ll definitely need a brain for this one, folks.

The gameplay takes the player on a journey through a series of different worlds and themes including Forest World, Seacoast World, Winterland World and Factory World. A-Men players use all of their five classes of characters to go up against two types of enemies. The first is a dumb lemming-like character and the second is very smart with the ability to avoid your clever traps. The characters are Spy, Muscleman, Commando, Engineer and Private, but beware of being fooled by their military-sounding names. Each one has their own very distinct personality and unique abilities that more skilled players will delve into to find that they can be combined across characters to ‘power up’ their individual capabilities.

If you want to change the look of your characters you can even visit clothing stores within the game to change outfits into something you prefer. As you might expect for a brand new game on a new platform, we have made use of the Vita’s astounding technical features, including the possibility to use proximity play with other gamers to exchange items won in the many levels throughout the different Worlds.

We have also made best use of the OLED screen, action buttons and touch controls of the PS Vita, the only platform with this combination that makes for truly enjoyable, old-school style gameplay. It really shows off the advantage of the PlayStation system over app-based gaming. There’s enough involved to keep you up all night and the cute, well-delivered style makes it worth it. Throw in Trophies available for hardcore enthusiasts and there is something in this game for everyone, and just one of the many reasons why A-Men is going to dominate the forums with players looking for walkthroughs. Like the Rubik’s cube or Tetris, it’s one of those games you get utterly absorbed in but not everyone can master. A-Men has cult classic written all over it.

My play order is still stuck on pre order :(

They should release minecraft on the vita :D

Mr Minecraft said he has no plans to.

Never played it but Lego star wars should go on the vita!

Lego Harry Potter year 5-7 has already been announced so Lego games will be on the system. Whether they'll re release the Complete Saga or not I don't know. I got massive headaches playing that on the PS3 though, never before and never since.

Was un-decided for so long, but meh just ordered from Amazon :D got the wifi model as I will rarely if ever need 3g and can use phone if I did need too, got it with VT4, will go highstreet on Weds and get uncharted and everybodys golf :)

I thought you'd already decided not to get one because of the memory card prices. Or were you just unaware of the deals available when you said that?

Hate you. lol

Haha. Quality! Where did you order from?

I THINK he writes/works for an online shop but I could be wrong. EDIt: beaten by the man himself

Yeah they're digital now. The games start screen thing has links to start the game properly, read the manual visit the website/forums and such and such.

TBF RTFM is going to become a much more popular phrase I think cause I probably wont be booting into a digital manual. A paper one would get a quick flick through as it costs me nothing, usually do it on loading screens!

Yep, just press th PS button while in game to go to the live area, in there will be a pink book with a ? on it. Click that for the manual.

Incredibly one game has it in black and white lol

Just noticed the Thrustmaster VIP Case release date has been moved to March 2, 2012 on Amazon :\

My pre ordered one still say Feb 22nd. Maybe they sold out already.

If it hasnt left play today though theres not much chance you will have it by Wednesday, for me, play usually takes 3-5 days from despatch.

For normal stuff yes but expensive items are usually shipped fast.

The EU blog put up a new Inside PS Vita video talking about the power in the device and making Uncharted on it.

Also just found this from eurohgamer the other day which I missed. Was in the same article as he said Call of Duty will be out in the Autumn, presumably at the same time as the standard COD games.

Longsworth went on to commit Sony's top studios to Vita development. This included Naughty Dog, which isn't making Uncharted: Golden Abyss for Vita - Sony Bend is.

"Absolutely you will [see Naughty Dog on Vita]," confirmed Longsworth. "You'll see a number of games coming out from all of our studios."

Also the CEO of Bloober Team who just announced A-Men will be out on launch day just commented on the Blog post.
First of all I would like to let you know that the game is quite big – it takes around 15 – 20 hours to finish.
Price in EU is set for 14.99 EURO but if you think that this price is too high you can check out the trial version which will be available at the same time.

Hmm. My VIP case from Amazon order was placed on Feb 2nd and is still ok. I'll keep checking.

I think Zavvi are selling it actually for a little less too though I have no idea when you'll get it.

Does anyone know the prices of the game's on release day ? from the supermarkets

No idea really outside of Morrions doing Uncharted for £35. On that basis the other games will probably be quite competitive.

Ok so where is the best place to preorder this atm ?

Are there still any decent deals out there

There are loads online. Check the first post as there is a whole section filled with them. It's all contained in one of the spoilers.

On another note, a video of A-Men popped up on youtube. You'll want to mute it though as its that guy with who does the stupid voice
