Is this a polite way to tell you to **** off?

Just getting insurance quotes for a prospective new car and have had this on every insurer I've been too.

Is there no hope for me?

:( I haven't tried Norwich Union yet (they gave the cheapest quote for my SEi) as their opening hours also apply to their online quote system

What do you mean you want one from the forum... this is the forum :p If I get this new car... I'll be letting my SEi go for silly cheap money as it's not perfect.

Just had a quote of £1536 from Endsleigh.

So no doubt NUD will be cheaper.

God I need this car. It's stupidly cheap and has had loads of work done recently.

Ohhhh :(

Well, for the price that the guy wanted for that one, you could get mine looking like that :)

WTF can be so stupid about these quotes though... I'm 20 years old with 2 years NCB! I'm not trying to insure a Ferarri Enzo or anything. It's crazy :(

You want to know the stupid thing Andy... the car I'm trying to insure is identical to yours... just a different colour :(

I'll try NUD tomorrow. They seem to have given the best quote with this area. But I WILL get this car!

Cheers Neil. My lowest quote so far is £1200 but I just realised that come the summer, I won't be using the car for work (only 4 miles away) so I can drop my yearly milage and not state as using the car for commuting.

Going to see it today. Can't wait :)

El... :p

At least this one has just had its head gasket done :D

Ahhhh, interesting hopefully he will get more joy with this one, current car (Jokes aside) seems to have caused him quite a few problems.

Well it got me to Leeds and back without a hitch today. In fact, I had a really good blast in it. The M62 is a good blast.

For all you wondering what car I'm getting... it's not a turbo no, that would be just madness.

It's a 220 GSi :) For the price, it's a pretty good buy. New thread on its way.

You've gotta be joking me Si?

0-60 of the 220 is what, 8 seconds? Not to mention the mahoosive increase in torque. I went to Leeds today and had to hammer it up hills in 3rd and 4th gear to even maintain my speed.

And I'm sure you've seen the quotes I've been getting for the 220. The Turbo is just WAYYYYYY out of the question at the moment.

And surely the turbo handles worse than the 220? Anyway, I've got these 50mm springs that I'm saving for it :)

I'd love a 420. That's the one car that would truly make me happy :D

Still, the words 'Turbo' and 'Sport' aren't going to do my insurance any favours.

Well, you were talking about more weight at the front so worse handling... the GSi-T has a turbo, intercooler and piping to carry around.

I've got no idea how much it'd be for a turbo. I had quotes a while ago for £1300 but for some reason they won't touch me now.

So you're honestly saying that if you could swap your 214 for a 220 NASP you wouldn't go for it?

Si, when you say 220, do you mean NASP or Turbo?

Trust me, I'd still love the Turbo and when I do get to drive one I'll be gutted I didn't save up. But I'm not prepared to get raped by the insurance and repair bills just to own one. I just can't afford it at the moment.

I would have thought that you would be at least a little bit happy that I'd decided not to blow all my money on a 1.4 and get a good base car like the 220.

Hmmm, right, I've been finding it pretty easy to get quotes of under £1400 for the GSi, so that had me thinking...

NUD might be saying to call them just based on the fact that it's a group 13 car. Their quote might not be that expensive, especially as how they were quoting me £775 for the 214. I reckon it would be around £1200 for the new car.

I guess the only way to find out is to ring them :)

Want to hear something stupid Nick? The 10 month policy is actually cheaper than the 12 month

-westy- was telling me how the NCB you get on the 10 month policies is only valid with that particular company. Any truth in this?

Mark... don't make me cry please :( I thought this area was good (ask El and Si what it's like), but obviously it's got a crap postcode.

 I don't get it though. Surely the fact that they're rewarding you with a years NCB after only 10 months should mean a higher overall policy cost?

What's in it for them if they don't?

Trojan, oh glad to hear that mate :) Thanks.

Ohh I see. That's not bad then :)

Well I've got 10 days to sort out insurance, so I'm in no rush unlike I was when I bought the first car... was kinda desperate to just get a car.

Oh, I've just paid for this months' car insurance, so at least I'll still be insured on the 214 until the end of March. Can take people out in it for test drives etc and take it for a run every few days to keep things in good running order, so at least it won't just be sat there.
