Please help. NTL + 360 = CONSTANT problems

The folk you speak to for a new cable modem probably won't give you a free one if you threaten to cancel. It's a totally different department and they couldn't care less I expect.

However, once they say they won't do anything, call the cancellations dept number they will give you. Tell them you want to cancel. They'll ask you why. Tell them the reason and they should be able to get you a free modem.

Personally, I'd say your current one is faulty (it is). Save you a lot trouble.

He's saying if they dont give you one for free, threaten to leave, then they will.

exactly. if they dont offer to give you one for free, say the service isnt good enough and you want to cancel. they will then put you through to retentions explain and they will do it for you for free.

i.e I'm cancelling unless you get me a new modem out ASAP.

actually if they do that then say well i think its ridiculous having to wait on the phone this long for this to happen, I'm still not happy and you might end up with 3-6 months half price 10 meg BB as well.

and I am being serious.

So pretty much I am best to say that I think there is something wrong with my cable modem, because I am getting constant disconnects with the internet, and tell them that the modem resets itself randomly and I want an engineer to take a look at it?

Tell them you want a new modem and if they dont say "ok", request to cancel your subscription with them. They then put you through to cancellations and its only there that the people will sort you out a new modem. Dont say you think theres a problem, you are well within your rights to recieve a faultless service, which you aren't getting. Say you want a new modem or you will quit.

Happens with banks aswell, ring them up saying "why have you charged me for going overdrawn" they'll say "would you like to cancel?", you go through to cancellation dept, and they refund the charge!

:)
