True, benching is the only place you would really notice the numbers and going from a sata II to a 6gbps sata III SDD is as different as walking and flying

OK, so thanks for all your help guys, i have just ordered the Crucial 128gb SSD first thing this morning on the back of your replies! 
Rather than open a new thread once it arrives tomorrow (RMSD) i might as well keep everything in here:
Looking in the BIOS i have two places where i can select ACHI they are;
SATA RAID/ACHI MODE - disabled/raid/achi
and
ONBOARD SATA/IDE CTRL MODE - ide/achi/raid&ide
Which or both do i change to ACHI?
Gigabyte P35 DS4 motherboard rev 2.1 btw
