Please read this if you're using a signature showing gamer points / achievements

There are no plans to increase the rule on signatures sizes. Certainly not dimensions anyway.

As for file size that would be Spie's decision.

I've never seen such a fuss over signatures in all the time I've been on here, and all because another website, which is completely unrelated to OcUK, has gone down. Now all of a sudden nobody in charge listens and the place is archaic.

Bizarre, the score-signatures aren't even that good.

Well this forum does have a history of never listening to its users, so I'm not surprised.

Well for your information I have asked the powers that be. :) And stop moaning!:D:p

Most sensible post in this thread along side Dark Angels. :)

Signatures that show up to date console gaming habits, contact information and link to the gamers profile/s aren't good to have on a console gaming specific sub forum?

And whilst I like this one:

Here's one we can all get away with: http://www.trueachievements.com/gamercard.aspx

All the bars and strips should be valid but don't blame me if the one you pick is 1kb over and you get the ban hammer so double check. Also it's show's your trueachievement score which many who don't use the site won't see as valid.

Well perhaps it's just me, but I don't find any of that information useful or interesting. If I want to find user tags, there's a thread/database for that isn't there?

I'm not bothered what other people's avatars/gamer pictures look like, or what games they have recently played, or what there gamerscore etc. is as that's not what I come on this forum for. Plus seeing a page loaded with signatures that all look the same at a glance, to me defeats the point of a signature. I guess when the 360 (in particular) first launched it was kinda novel to have all this live info in a sig, now I just don't find it relevant.

If more people on here want those things though, then I hope for them the rules are relaxed :)

You can disable showing signatures so any one who is really bothered by the miniscule cut into their allowance can easily do that.

Quoted for truth. It wouldn't be an awful thing to see the sig filesize limit be upped a little at the very least.

If bandwidth is indeed a problem, perhaps stars should be removed from *** OFFICIAL thread titles *** too

I'll agree with the mods here

The top one is exactly the sort of large signature we don't want allowed here. 125 pixels high is too much.

Thats going to be far too distracting. And it takes too long to load as well.

young 'uns today. Net etiquette is lost these days. Even if I have a gigbit fibre connection, I don't want to be downloading 8MB or more, PER PAGE, from crappy slow servers for what amounts to a few KB of actual content (the text)

You already download up to 1.6mb per page using the same calculations

and you are of course forgetting that even now, not everybody has 20kb sigs so it doesnt work out like that. Nobody needs 100kb for their 75 pixels high 400 pixels wide signature

but it stops the arguing. I've been suspended before because of an argument over whether to use the attribute in windows for "Size" or "size on disk" because my Sig was under for "size" but not for "size on disk"

its that sort of petty **** that would be stopped by raising the limit to one that nobody would actually need. But stops people taking the mick and using 1.5mb bitmaps or whatever.

I agree with you entirely. That top one was way too large and way too distracting, the one underneath it I have no problem with though.

I'm not saying this place is perfect but this statement is blatantly not true, I am a member of quite a few large popular forums and I have to say this one is most in tune with it's community by a mile, it's one of the reasons why I keep coming back to this place (sorry guys :-P), the sense of connection between the moderators, shop, and the forum community is great.

Holy crap what a brown nose.
