My initiation was back in 2014.
My bass player kept wearing their t-shirts and asking me If I'd heard them.
I told him lies because looking at the t-shirt they were going to be some horrible Death Metal band I didn't want to waste my time on.
After a few months he insisted I listen to them when I got home from a gig and he said he expected my text at 2am in the morning.
I drops on You Tube, headphones on full and was immediately gobsmacked, it wasn't what I expected.
I texted him saying they are a bit like a rock ABBA and to upset him even more I said they were more like Bon Jovi than Slayer.
Well that was it, I was hooked.
I've seen them twice now but he's seen them a good ten times, his new band also does Rats and Square Hammer.

I was on the mailing lists of a few record companies back in the day and as such used to get tickets and backstage passes mailed out for a metric **** ton of gigs every year. Life was good back then.

I went The Rigger two weeks ago to watch a band.
I decided to film them and when the lead guitar solo came on pointed the camera at the guitarist.
To my amazement he wasn't playing the solo and all the major guitar work was all on backing tracks :eek:
I felt cheated.
My mate said "I was waiting for you to spot that, my daughter in the other band texted me about it during soundcheck".
 
This was a great concert but even just watching the video really annoys me. There isn't a shot of the audience where it's not full of those bloody screens.

How long did it take you to search that one on Google, Feek, its still hardly wall to wall though is it? c'mon man, this is supposed to be a feel good music thread, not a try to blow a fellow poster out of the waters thread ,,, no need to steer this thread it into muddy waters, my intention is good, does that mean nothing to you?

I'm guessing its a carefully chosen shot from Pink Floyds Pulse show or David Gilmour show perhaps? you can cherry pic shorts like that on any concert show, it does not mean it happens all the time, can you ease up on me please mate, and stop being disingenuous I've done nothing wrong but try to strike up some convo and banter in the right forum.

This is Glenn Hughes at Inverness at the old Iron Works rock club sadly closed now, really miss that club and the great times we all had there ... but anyway, on with the show .. please enjoy and no walls of phone cameras in front of me in sight either.

It was a great show though and filled the gaps with my oft seen DP and Ritchie live shows.

I didn’t need to search Google for it. It’s a video I have in my collection and as I said in my post, it’s every single audience shot. I actually took about ten screenshots but rather than post them all, I picked one at random. It’s not the worst.

See above. It’s Gilmour at Pompeii and I’ve never seen a concert so bad for it. As I explained above, it’s always frustrated me so much that I can’t even watch it any more. I’ll play the soundtrack but can’t watch the video.

Don’t flatter yourself. I’ve never even noticed you before this thread and at no point have I specifically singled you out. I made a point above of saying that my comment was a generalisation.

I have no problem with you sharing videos and I’ve never suggested that you shouldn’t. If you’re happy that this is a discussion thread in a discussion forum then my post is completely valid.

I’m not the only one in this thread who is against the recording at gigs, just because I’m the one who’s spoken out against it the most doesn’t mean I’m the only person. I suspect (from reading the replies) that if there was a poll that the majority would be against it.

I’ve said my piece. I won’t be back in here.
