Please spec me a reliable fast external HDD

Hi, I've started doing a lot of video and my space is getting murdered.

I've looked at various HDDs on amazon but hoping for some experience. Reviews vary widely and expect some fake ones.
Hoping to edit video off it, so needs to be fast.

Editing video off an external HDD, i honestly would not bother, far to slow imo. However more information is needed, computer spec, video format, and budget.

For now i will just say you can get a good external 1tb SSD for ~£100.
Though i expect you could get a budget SSD and an enclosure for less than £100, moreso at 500gb.

I recently picked up WD sn550 2tb for £145 for the same reason as you, my boot drive and games drive have got murdered for space as i've been filming more than i can keep up with atm.

Tbh it's more to manage the space. I took some clips the other night and it took up 64gb.
So I'm thinking 8tb +. I can then move things back and forth when I edit off the NMVE's.
I'm editing 4k vids on a 5800x, 970 nvme x2 , 3080ti, 32gb

Ah didn't realise there was a storage forum.
I tend to hold onto various clips. They are quite hard go get. I'll browse that sub forum to get some ideas.
